The genny and the spinnaker are not right triangles.
The spinnaker is cut very wide all the way to the shoulder and then comes in sharply at the
head. The sail is also cut deep.
The genny has a much more acute angle formed at the
head where the leech and luff meet so has a much higher aspect ratio and on average a narrower width from luff to leech.
If you divide the square area by the luff length you can approximate the average width.
35 / 13.7 = 2.55
93 / 13.2 = 7.0
Seems pretty approximate to me.
