Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Thanks. That’s (unfortunately) 67 feet, 8”. So, will have to either load it with several hundred gallons of beer or get out a hacksaw . Much appreciated.

Hi everybody,
For those interested, I attach here the sail-plan of the Astréa, that I got from FP some time ago.

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

I like the beer idea!

I am also looking at navigating the ICW with this boat. I've never done it before but if I am not mistaken making the trek South from Norfolk the first "fixed" bridge is in Miami (@56 feet the Julia L. Tuttle bridge) the rest open or swing regularly to allow boat traffic.

Would like to hear from anyone who has any info on the ICW. I found a great link (below) to the mile by mile bridges.

Bridge Restrictions

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Greig - The link you show gives bridge restrictions for those that need to be opened. There are numerous fixed bridges (not all at the Federal standard of 65') along the ICW. Here is a better link: Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW, ICW, The Ditch) Norfolk to Miami

I would suggest active captain as another resource for bridge information.

Best wishes - Rob

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Thanks for ICW info guys.

And Luc, thanks for posting sail plan.
I'm thinking of picking up a Parasailor - anyone priced that out for Astrea? Given the current Euro/USD exchange rate has effectively knocked almost $50k off the boat price since I ordered it (silver lining), thought I could justify one.
Thinking of heading to La Rochelle around Dec 8th for a few days to check out our boat before it heads out to cross the pond. Shout if anyone planning a visit around then?!

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Hi Soultrain

Have you had confirmation your boat will definitely be ready for the Paris boat show? I realise my trip to La Rochelle to inspect our boat should coincide with it. Pretty much have to fly into Paris (from Boston) so might try to get to the show if the boat is there.

Thanks

@Nils, that was Dan Brown's 'Brown Eyed Girl' splashing down in La Guadeloupe, in the video on the FB group. That boat is not going to be at the Salon Nautique de Paris

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Thank you WKSTAR for these pictures. Some of them where very helpful for me while preparing some additions for our own boat. It was for exemple the first time I saw a layout without barbecue

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Has anyone decided to change the barbecue option to a Weber Q? I've seen them on lots of cats in Australia and understand a few Aussies have fitted them to FP models but can't find anyone who has actually done it. For about 200 euros they seem like a good idea but I'd like to hear any experiences from people who have used them?
