Windows8 and GPS-mouse

My Holux GR-213 GPS was running fine on W7 but not at all on W8. When trying to find a new driver, there was none on Holux web. With a small program from them I could find that the chip version in the GPS was outdated and no further support.
I will use this as a backup onboard on my nav. computer that is running XP SP3.
The question: What is the best choice of GPS-mouse to use together with W8?

Sorry but I have not had experience with W8 (as yet).

As an aside, you may experience the problem of myself and others that the OpenCPN program crashes after some time using a USB GPS. I have posted a workaround for this at http://yachtvalhalla.net/navigation/...vmonbuffer.htm

I found the program here:

Prolific Technology Inc.

it is inside the driver pack:

PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1.7.0.zip.
