Mooring area in St Mary's (Scilly islands, UK): this could be Cmap's rather than OpenCpn's fault

Hi Pavel

Just had a look on your latest S52. Definite improvement
I wonder if it might be possible to improve on the topmarks for lateral boys. The topmark seem to be partly hidden by the top of the spar.
(I wish I had time to try my hand at it, but I haven't...)
Many thanks

Hold on. In my previous post, the pic came from my Toshiba notebook. Checking the same chart (using the same S52/S57 folder) on my nav station ASUS 1005, the rendering of lateral buoys is better...
Baffling (at least to me...)

I've also seen this mysterious behavior before - even on the same machine. Usually the first run with new rules places the topmaks too low but then it gets ok... I'm not very deep in this part of the codebase so it will probably take some time to figure out why. Priority is low, I would say.

Hi Pavel

Coudn't find how to send a PM with a pic. So here it is.

I find the default vector Boybar01 too obtrusive. Here is a bitmap version
BTW, I can export the bitmap data, but is there a way to IMPORT same ?
However, here is the exported .png version

Keep up the good work

Hi,
Me too
Importing any "normal" bitmaps is not supported right now (It came on my mind of course, but I still didn't find any intelligent solution for palettes which wouldn't need implementing half of Photoshop) - You can just use "Merge" to import the S52 symbols.
Send me the symbol (export as .rah), you can find my address on the Authors tab in the About box of OpenCPN and I will include it in the rules.
And keep up the good work, it's really appreciated

(use 'Download source' at top right to get the full S57 folder)

Thanks Nohal (Pavel) !

Not going to change the default rendering for beacons, but created a separate rule for the white beacon.

By the way, this is the memorable moment when a little part of IHO reference chart started to look quite ok, so I'm attaching screenshots of the 1.3.6 rules and current github set before starting to celebrate
Thank you all for help and support

Rasterization : Somme offers of objects

Hello Pavel

SailorF54 learned me to work on the objects and their representation. I try it at my turn.

1° With SailorF54 following a remark that I had made, we are in agreement to say that the green and white towers are not easy to read.
I offered a new model with a lonely green strip and a lonely white strip. Besides I took a green more darted.
This tower is : TOWERS77

For example :
Feature Class: TOWERS

Position: 047 50.994 N 003 53.657 W

Attributes
CATTOW (1)
CONVIS (1)
SORIND (FR SHOM graph LL CA-57200)
VERLEN 6.0(m)
COLOUR green white(4 1)
OBJNAM (Pouldohan)

2° I made the same change for the green and white beacon tower BCNTOW65

For example :
Feature Class: BCNSPP

Position: 047 46.322 N 003 36.510 W

Attributes
CATSPM leading mark(16)
BCNSHP beacon tower(3)
COLOUR green white(4 1)
COLPAT horizontal stripes(1)
SORIND (FR SHOM graph LL CA-57530)
VERLEN 15.0(m)

3° I found a cardinal tower black and yellow which was not represented with his colors, in the south of the Island of Jersey in Channel.

Leaving from the tower TOWER88 I fabricated four cardinal towers that I named TOWCAR01, TOWCAR02, TOWCAR03 and TOWCAR04. Then I suppressed the tower TOWER88.

For example : The tower Demie ded Pas

Feature Class: TOWERS

Position: 049 08.992 N 002 06.208 W

Attributes
CATTOW (1)
CONVIS (1)
SORIND (GB MDHS graph LL A-1598)
COLOUR yellow black(6 2)

But I do not know if there is somme towers of the 3 other types that I have created.

4° I found a red and white Light-Float with vertical strips who are east of Britain, a little notherly of London in front of the river Humber.
He was not correctly represented.
I fabricated leaving from light-float LITFLT01, I fabricated a light-float that I called LITFLT10.

Feature Class: LITFLT

Position: 053 38.815 N 000 19.830 E

Attributes
COLOUR red white(3 1)
COLPAT vertical stripes(2)
SORIND (GB MDHS graph LL A-2421.45)
OBJNAM (Humber)
INFORM (C-Map#10149075;Safe Water
Mark)

5° East of the coasts of Florida, North west of Bahamas, I found on the CMAP a black tower which would have being.

I fabricated a black tower that I named TOWERS 63

Feature Class: TOWERS

Position: 026 56.809 N 079 06.303 W

Attributes
CATTOW (1)
CONVIS (1)
NATCON metal(7)
SORIND (US C&GS graph LL 110-11896)
VERLEN 7.0(m)
COLOUR black(2)

See many attach file with screen-shot and RLE and RAH.

Best regards

Gilletarom,
mercy beaucoup!
I have another batch of symbols from Francois waiting for review and inclusion here as well. Didn't have any free time yet as I went directly to work in Romania after returning from the sea... Suppose I will take care of it tomorrow.

Salut de Iasi,

Pavel
