Weather routing: GRIB: fail

Hi,
I am using opencpn 5.0 on a raspberry 3+
It works great!!
Except for computing the route in weather routing. I get the message: Grib: fail.
It does work for climatoligy but not for Grib files.
I use zygrib and also tried other gribs.
The windvanes are visible on the map.

Anyone any ideas?

Windows 10 - Just downloaded from Opencpn.org Downloads, the most recent wxroute 1.13.0 and installed into a fresh installation of Opencpn5.0 and it works out of the box.


Created new start and end points, fresh grib, created a new config, and hit compute.
It works out of the box.


What version of Opencpn? What version of wxroute?
What type of grib file? Screenshots of all basic settings please. You must be more detailed to get good help.

use weather_routing 1.13 and make sure your grib_pi is current.

Inhave version 1.10 of weather routing.
I tried to update/ upgrade but got the massage this is the highest version
See attached picture of update message.

Not sure if version 1.13 exists for linux/openplotter. And of so i dont know how to install other then used commands.

So i may have to wait till available
Do you know if version 1.10 should work?
I find it strange the computation works for climatology but not for Gribs. ( i have version grib plugin 4.1)
If you think it should work with version 1.10 i will send you my settings and gribfiles used. It could vert well be i have a wrong setting somewhere.

You are using openplotter. I think it should work, but this was a known bug awhile ago. You have two choices: learn how to compile and build your own (not hard in linux, generally) or ask openplotter to update it. Look in the opencpn developers manual under linux and ask openplotter how to compile it..

Seems openplotter will not update so will have to do it locally.
To far from my comfort/knowledge zone but i will ask some local guys for help

AFAIK there is not version 1.10 for linux yet, just for windows. This is the repository where it should be:

1.10. When running an upgrade command for this i get the message that 1.10

Can you make weatherrouting 1.13 available so i can install it?

We can not install compiled plugins in OpenPlotter because they could not be updated when a new version is released, plugins have to be in the opencpn repository to be installed and updated when necessary.

I just installed 5.0. The weather routing works on Windows 8 but I can't get it to work on Windows 10. Right now I'm only routing for a 40 km race, but there are plenty of interpolated wind barbs on Windows 8 and nothing -- no graphics, no report -- on Windows 10. I'm manually entering start and finish and am West longitude (-87 works on Windows 8) I manually put in polars for a Tartan Ten. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Well? Can't help without more information. You've got to provide screenshots, and explain what you have done and what the errors in the last field are.

Weather_routing has been configured so that after installation, it will just use sample files and work "out of the can" . Have you tried that?

I suggest reading the manual and in particular the FAQ at the end of the manual.
