In other words, despite all my settings for everything to be in UTC, the schedules here are in UTC +1.

This is certainly a bug that I observed during all my tests with this version of WR and with previous versions.
Is this fixed now? I think yes. Please advise.

"Isochrone Join" to previous

Quote:
..and especially how isochrones join by segments that snap to the previous isochrone.
I am curious about this and how these segments are calculated. What makes them change the segments? etc. Sometimes we see a jittery zig zag "isochrone join" to previous.

Current Boat Position is missing!!

Warren posted on Tracker the following:
FS#2323 - Add ability to display, playback multiple routes at the same time.

Which is a good idea, and one I had not tried, although I've computed multiple routes at the same time quite often.

In trying his idea, I found that we are now missing the current boat position. It is not possible to step through the grib file and see where the boat is located at that timeframe!

However it is very possible to compare two computations and step through the grib file! ---The problem is the boat indicator is missing.

Thanks Warren!

Re: Weather Routing

Hello,

Another idea, if our fellow developers want to tackle it.

Could we have:
- or a button to hide or display all isochrones when the calculations are complete.
- or one more colum in the window, on the right side. If I check the box of a configuration, the isochrones of this configuration are displayed, if I do not check this box, the isochrones of this configuration are not displayed.

This is possible actually easily :
- You create a configuration and/or you select this configuration,
- Then you go to "Configuration" menu
- Then you choice "New configuration"
- Then, you change the end point of this configuration (But you can also change the start point)
- Then you select the two configurations on the right
- Then you push the button calculate

And the two route are simultaneously compute.
Am I wrong ?

You can also select 2 or 3 or ... configurations that are existing, and you push the button "Compute"

Re: Weather Routing

Gille, can you confirm that the Boat Position on the route is missing? please.

What do you undestand by "Boat position" ?
I never see informations about the virtual boat. Position and speed are not displayed.

Gilletarom.

Re: Weather Routing

Gille, when you have completed a routing, you should leave the routing highlighted and then walk the grib_pi forward and back and you should be able to see the round symbol on the route move (this is the boat position!).

See Item #11 - What does Weather Routing look like?
11. Small round circle on the route is the calculated Boat location for that time frame.

This is one where the circle shows!

Re: Weather Routing

I have confirmed that version 1.10 of weather_routing has this same problem.
The "boat location" round circle on the route calculated does not work.

Re: Weather Routing

More about this BUG

https://github.com/seandepagnier/wea...ment-359651411

I think it may have happened during the reconfiguration of the menus and was never noticed.
Possibly sometime around Dec 18, 2017.

--PS I just tested a compile from Dec 15 and the bug still existed, so it happened earlier.

Re: Weather Routing

Boat position (round circle) is correctly shown on Linux when stepping through the grib file (assuming you use a grib file and not climatology of course).

Moreover, if multiple routes are computed and shown (selected), when stepping through the grib the boat position is shown simultaneously on each route.

Re: Weather Routing

I tried under Windows, with the latest git of both OpenCPN and WR, and it works properly, see the screen captures I attached to the github issue above.

Thanks Stelian. Not a bug.

Added this to the wiki.

Re: Weather Routing

I have previously had problems getting this plugin working properly but doing a clean install as suggested in a previous post and using latest version of Climatology and weather routing makes it works flawless for planning the routing

A few things not working entirely in OpenCPN or that could be improved

1. Weather route is stored as a track but when trying to convert it from track to route for upload to my plotter OpenCPN stalls

2. It is a great feature to see the % upwind sailing. I am not a programmer but maybe this function could be used for scenario planning.

Lets say that the plugin could run a scenario for every six hours for the period for which there are available GRIB data and then it could propose the route with the least upwind % - maybe even combined with the shortest route/passage time. The admiral on our boat would really appreciate this :-)

It can of course be done manually..
