Re: Weather Routing

Hi...
I have just published a new build of the weather routing plugin for O4.1, fixing the incompatibility with climatology. Get it from Plugins for OpenCPN 4.1 | Official OpenCPN Homepage or update your Linux system.

Pavel, thanks for your work on this plugin. I have gotten it working mostly, but it freezes up my Raspberry pi 2 and won't complete the route. It gets 80% 95% of the rout before it freezes. Do you have any suggestions for fixing this? Possible changing settings to reduce the resource demands?

Thanks again.

Re: Weather Routing

Uncle...
I don't have any suggestions. Unless you provide more info and your exact settings, nobody can test and suggest anything.

Re: Weather Routing

Polar_pi has been updated to remove intermediate lines of zeros in the pol files that weather_routing_pi cannot process.
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1884195

This new version of the Polar_pi plugin has been uploaded to
Opencpn Beta File Thingie rguser rgpass
4.1.602 PI Win Directory
Find polar_pi-1.1006-ov4.1.602-win32

It can be used with Opencpn v4.1.602 and greater.

Re: Weather Routing

Hi all, I have been using the weather routing plugin in for a few days.
It works quite well with default options (thanks ).
I tried to find explanations for the "Constraints" section, but I was unable.
Can anybody explain those parameters?
Are they all working?

Thanks and best regards

more or less they work. They are documented in the plugin from the help menu.

Re: Weather Routing

Been trying to build the plugin on both an arm (odroid XU3) and x86 and I can get as far as running a route computation when the plugin reports grib plugin version not supported and then openCPN exits.

I've tried rolling back through various releases from 4.1.818 to 3.3.2503 with varying results. sometimes opencpn exits without loading climatology at all.

Logs are quite clean from errors, I'd like to get more debug output.

Any ideas to try would be greatly appreciated

Re: Weather Routing

There is a new grib plugin version. I just pushed changes which should allow the plugin (in git) to work with opencpn (in git)

Re: Weather Routing

Sean I compiled it and have been trying it with the most current android 4.1.818 (which recently advanced). Wxroute seemed to freeze up for me. Should I go back to v4.1.602? Or is it something in my setup?

Re: Weather Routing

Weather_routing_pi recompiled seems to be working ok now. Tested with older gribs and got it working, then tried new files downloaded using zygrib, some over Great Lakes.
The newer zygrib files work for the most part, but there is one problem that shows up over the Great Lakes which seems to be related to Land checking..
When "Detect Land" is checked the resultant Isochrones are confined to a small box.
When "Detect Land" is NOT checked the full route is calculated.
I note that both of these were done with Climatology "disabled".

When Climatology is "enabled" I see that there is no wind data available from Climatology over the Great Lakes (there is other data available). Then plugin just calculates the route as is normal, provided the route is within the grib area.

Why the Boxed routing?
