Re: Weather Routing

Hi Sean,
what's the minimum wxWidgets requirement for weather_routing ?

I updated today and tried to compile under Win7, VC2010, wxWidgets 2.8.12 (as still stated in the developers manuals) but since today I get a compile error :
6>..\..\..\plugins\weather_routing_pi\src\Configur ationDialog.cpp(163): error C2039: 'SetFileName' : is not a member of 'wxFilePickerCtrl'
6> C:/data/wxWidgets-2.8.12/include\wx/filepicker.h(181) : see declaration of 'wxFilePickerCtrl'

It did compile on June 1st w/o problems ...

Thanks,

Thomas

Re: Weather Routing

I have been using wx-3.0 to ensure it can work there.. but it seems I must also have 2.8 around to verify. I won't have internet for a few days.. be patient.

Re: Weather Routing

What ever happened to the day when a weather router was a guy who had a hugh set of gear and plotted weather systems from the hills outside of Denver and for about $200 a week would give you by RT or HF a weather report twice a day accurate within 15 minutes and wind speed, direction and wave height and moment like he was in the wheelhouse looking out with you? What tom BigSpeedy posted is impressive but it might as well been written in Sanskrit for all I understood! Sorry, tom... cheers, Phil

Hi Phil,
sorry for having been a bit short yesterday, I just returned from a 500nm race ...
Here is the long version, although Sean's reply states, that he understood the "tech stuff" question:

I was compiling the weather routing plugin on my own since some time, and it always compiled fine, till I tried again yesterday. I received a compile error stating that a wxWidget function is unknown. As I'm using still wxWidgets 2.8.12, I assumed that Sean uses a newer version of wxWidgets (having the new function included). And that's why I asked for the wx version Sean uses.

Re: Weather Routing

I finally got internet, and fixed many problems with weather routing. It should compile with wx-2.8 and 3.0 fine now.

Re: Weather Routing

Sean,

weather routing compiles now OK with wxWidgets 2.8.12, thanks.

I found a small glitch in the weather routing module with a date field.
It's not new but there since quite some time.

I'm using european date format DD.MM.YYYY
This is how to reproduce :
Define a new route, edit the properties, click on the button to set the current grib date as startpoint for the calculation.
The date is shown correctly as DD.MM.YYYY (e.g. 01.06.2014)
Save and exit, restart O.
Edit this route again, and the start date changes to MM.DD.YYYY, e.g. 06.01.2014

BR,
Tom

Re: Weather Routing

Hi,

I downloaded new version of plugins and tested it.

1. I tried to use climatology. It is nice that the new plugin installed all needed staff. Wind , Current and Cyclones works perfect. But if I tried to use air temp or sea temp opencpn is crashed.

2. I also tried to use weather routing plugin and version "Most Likely" works nice. Both Cumulative-Map and Cumulative-Calm use a lot of CPU but after 1 hour of computing still nothing is visible. And finally "Avarage" have broken logic and shows like compute in opposite direction that I chose.

See attachments.

Re: Weather Routing

Kubek, thanks for your reports. Just now I found Sean had made some changes. So I git pull, cmake, cpack for a newer version. Find it You will have to go to Opencpn Beta File Thing
Opencpn Beta File Thingie 2.5.7
use rguser rgpass
in the 3.3.1731 folder

Hi,

I downloaded it again but it doesn't change weather routing or climatology behavior.
If I unchecked "OverlayMap" option I could see numbers in both air temp and sea temp. But just after mark "OverlayMap" again it crashed.

I also realized that hot keys for "fine scale zooming" doesn't work in OpenCPN 3.3.1731
"Ctrl + for fine scale zooming in.
Ctrl - for fine scale zooming out.
Ctrl + scroll wheel, zooming in/out in small steps."

Re: Weather Routing

Hi,

when I edit an existing configuration (or edit an existing one) Weather_routing hangs up, as soon as I click the Edit Button for the boat configuration.
O goes to 100% in the task manager and hangs.
See screenshot with marked button.
I'm using W7, VC2010, wxWidgets 2.8.12

It doesn't matter if I use my own compilation or Ricks installer from his download location.

BR,
Tom
