Make sure your grib file is at the first frame or beginning.
Check Wind and Pressure.
Make sure climatology file is set to this month, Oct. and Wind and Currents are checked.
In the Edit window uncheck detect land. Make sure your route is local and does not require missing land. Keep the problem simple and get it working. Then add complexity.
In the Edit window click "grib time".
Try clicking "Start"
If that does not work try unchecking grib and checking climatology and try hitting start.
Then try unchecking climatology and checking Grib to just use the grib file.
See if it works.
Show me your Routing with "Start" and "End".
but first try deleting that and adding a new routing and try running that.
Mess around a bit, to see if you can get it working.
I have found that if it does not work I have to delete the route and add a new one.
Also do you have WeatherRoutingConfiguration.xml in your progamdata directory?

I did a complete reinstall from scratch with the same results...but now the weatherconfiguration.xml is not in programdata folder, and it keeps making new navobj.xml files with each crash

Re: Weather Routing
bbowers2004, I think you had it working ok and it was just a matter of getting familiar. It looked to me like you have it set up ok. Sorry about the trouble. Give it a break and try again tomorrow. I must confess, it took me awhile to get it working, and some work.
You've done a lot for the first time and it is complex. Tomorrow you'll have another perspective and idea.
Hope this has been a help. (I think the xml file in program data is made by the plugin when first opened, and there is routing data to save.)

When I received the email from the forums it didn't show your entire post, sorry for the off distraction.
I have tried the checking and unchecking all of the options. I can get it to say grib failed, or climatology failed, if i leave both of those closed.
If I click edit, next to the boat.xml it crashes.
If I have Grib, or Climatology open and checked it will crash.
I do not have WeatherRoutingConfiguration.xml present.
I will leave it at this for today.

Re: Weather Routing
Hmm, maybe this is a compile problem... We'll have to see if others are having problems. Maybe v3.3.1006 is not compatible for some reason.....? ..What I do not know yet. Thank you for all your help. Maybe something will come to you.
I really think it should have run with Grib or Climatoloby alone.
Anyone else have any suggestions? or Experience with Weather_routing and Opencpn v3.3.1006.
Rick

Re: Weather Routing
It works. Downloaded v3.3.1006 and tested Climatology, Grib and Weather_Routing.
The grib version in 3.3.1006 does not email and hangs! I would use earlier versions or 3.3.1009.
Other than that I was able to run WxRte first time no problem. Now we have to figure out why yours isnt working.

Re: Weather Routing
Are you running windows 7 x64?
Do you have a download of version 3.3.1009?
I will download the new climatology v03, but it also would not run with only grib. Do you have a download of the grib I should use as well, or did you use the one that came with 3.3.1006?
Also you may have some files created by earlier versions?

Re: Weather Routing
7x64
Have compiled v3.3.1009
I have the canned compiled version of grib for v3.3.1009 (mail works better)
I also have downloaded v3.3.1006 for you and have that version of grib too.
I have other earlier versions of grib, but do not use them now.
I think the problem is in the setup of weather_routing_pi.
Have you deleted all the routes you've tried. Closed Opencpn and reopened. Then made a new route.

I deleted the routes, and exited, reopened. Disabled, Re-enabled. I Installed version 3 of Climatology.
Weatherroutingconfiguration.xml showed up in my data folder again, it only says its version 09 in the file.
Guess I'll try to use Qtvlm, although I can't figure out how to copy a route on that program...
Its funny on my tablet its very simple for all these practices, and I was thinking it would be easier on a latop, but clearly I'm mistaken.

Re: Weather Routing
qtVlm is very good for virtual or real boat routing. Yes, try that.
I still believe your install is fine either with 3.3.1006 or 3.3.1009.
I am puzzled what the quirk is and would like to find it, so do try this again later.
I suspect it is something to do with boat settings.
Under weather_routing Configuration>Edit> Boat [ Browse] PICK EDIT > Under the Tabs
"Hull" Set your tons and lwl.
"Sail Plan" leave eta as .15 max point angle 15
"Statistics" set beam and loa
"Polar File" should say "Computed" leave it that way. Wind degree and step at 3 is fine.
"Plot Details" Plot type "Polar" greyed "Boat" and Wind knots "15"
Then press "Save" in Plot Details"
Then try a short routing.
Maybe that will work.

Re: Weather Routing
You will notice that if the grib is say 5 days and the trip is longer, the calc will show the routing for 5 days, and end with "fail". It did not get to the destination and thus "failed"

If I click that button, it crashes.

Re: Weather Routing
Darn!! Thanks for trying.
Perhaps this is a file permissions problem?
What is the path? C:\ProgramData\opencpn data?
Is that writable by the program?
Can you copy something into that directory?
What are the permissions on the folder?
