Waypoints link to local file, multi platform

I'm trying to setup a info layer with opening times of bridges and locks.
Is there a way to have a general html file somewhere on the computer where all platforms could find it.
I would like also to link to a local file, but without the filepath, as the path will be different on different computers.

And if this is not possible should we have something like this for the next version?

Perhaps you are looking for the file OCPNPlatform.cpp ?
See the source files of OpenCPN.

Re: Waypoints link to local file, multi platform

I've been doing a similar thing with various cruising guides. I use a PDF file for the cruising guide so I can open the file to a particular page number. The PDF's open in the default web browser.

I would also like to see a place where these files could be placed so that it is not necessary to name a full pathname. For simplicity, I have just placed them in the "C:\" directory. It would be nice if we had a dedicated folder we could copy these files so no path would need to be specified and would be usable on Android and other devices.

Perhaps we could have a folder named Layers/Data or something like that. OpenCPN updates would need to protect those files between updates so they never needed to be reinstalled.

Suggest you add this feature requests and post an entry in Flyspray requests. I'll vote for it!

Okay! You have my vote! Looks like Dave voted for it too! He's already assigned himself to the task! Thanks rooiedirk and Dave!

does not sQuiddio_pi already offer you this options? Not as private, as you suggested but that should not place a problem.

See this discussion about layers

Can improvements/clarifications be made?

Also FAQ about saving many waypoints to a layer
