Watermark - Meters / Fathoms / Feet . . .

Is there a way to get rid of the annoying watermark displayed in the upper right corner?
This is a feature you won't find on other plotter systems... Why - because you set this in the settings...

Please help me get rid of this watermark... Anyone know how to remove it?

You can turn it off in the config - show units or something

HotRod....

Turn it off in Toolbox->Settings->Show DepthUnits

btw, Every other ECS will show somewhere on screen the current depth unit settings. Its a safety feature. Sometimes it is in the window frame title.

Why? Because raster chart depth units are fixed as scanned, and without some notification one must guess at the units currently being shown on the chart, unless the chart title block happens to be visible

So, if you turn this off for Raster charts, please be careful.

Thanks
Dave

Hello Dave, you do have a good point there, but Ive always had the indicator turned off just because -personally and in my humblest opinion - I find it large and intrusive-looking. Perhaps it could be smaller and more transparent?

I was not referring to the depth soundings, but the watermark in the upper right corner.
Somehow it disappeared on my Win7 laptop, but not the one running Ubuntu... I will try the latest beta...

If you ask me, this watermark is totally unnecessary and anoying, you won't find this on any other pro plotter system on a vessel.
All owners of a plotter system should know what units they have selected, if not they should stay on the shore.
If I wanted such watermark I would like to have it off as default and the opurtunity to turn it on.
A better solution would be to have it on the status line or at the top program header.

BTW im running vector charts...

HotRod:

With vector charts, you control the units. With raster charts you have to have some way of knowing whether it is fathoms, feet or whatever. While using quilted charts you can't even scroll over to the title block to find out.

IMO the watermark is essential for use with raster charts. I don't think it is that intrusive.

Please, Dave, don't run away ...We need you (and the rest of the team) They both mean well (but I can't see how you're going to satisfy both )

Simple, make a selectionbox where you can turn the watermark on or off, or even move it out of the chart and into e.g. the statusbar...

There should be a minimum of disturbing elements on the chart...

Open the toolbox. Under the settings tab there is a checkbox labelled "Show DepthUnits". If that box is checked the watermark appears. If that box is cleared the watermark does not appear.

If you ask me the watermark is necessary and not annoying. For raster charts it's essential to know the depth units. For vector charts it's good to have a reminder. If it annoys you, turn it off. If you use vector charts exclusively you probably don't need it.

Dave,

I like the watermark just the way it is. I don't even notice the watermark unless I make an effort to look for it. It has never interfered with my use of the charts. I vote that you leave it the way it is.

Thanks,

Paul
