Re: Watchdog Plugin

Hello Jongough,

Thank you for this detailed answer.

As I begin to understand how you operate in your head, I had already anticipated and understood in advance what you just explained. But I needed an answer "absolutely certain" to my questions before explaining that the shoreline tutorial. So I apologize for my questions, probably too many, and consume some of your time everyday.

Regarding the surface using two-dimensional or one-dimensional line, I succeeded, at least I hope, to admit that the two-dimensional surfaces can be more useful than the lines.

Best regards. Gilletarom.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Gilletarom,
If you have questions you need to ask them. The only question that is stupid is the one that is not asked. If my answers help you understand something, that is good. If others get something out of that then that is even better.

I know that OD can seem complicated (it certainly makes me think hard when trying to make it work!) and when you add in the interactions with the other plugins it is even more so, but I hope that the documentation and this forum make it easier. But, as you have said, I seem to think differently to some, so my ideas of what is simple and complex are not shared by others and I need the feedback to help improve the tools.

Regards
Jon

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Will there ever be a moment that the latest pot-file of WD is placed in CrowdIn?

As far as I have observed last couple of weeks, Sean and Jon are working on it.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Sean is the "owner" and Jon did a great job in the last time to integrate the OD/boundary objects into it. The latter required a lot of modifications to the UI and hence the pot file.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Folks...

OK, the .pot is updated in Crowdin.

Whenever there is an updated translation and up-to-date build available, let me know. I'd like to upload it to opencpn.org, and then update the download links.

Thanks
Dave

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Hello All,

I test the watchdog using a VDR file between the Port of Dunkirk (France) and the port of Zeebrugge (Belgium).

I obviously uses files gshhsHires good.

I created a LanFall type of alert with the constraint: Distance less than 0.6 Nm.

The alarm is declared from the beginning, this is normal. It stop when the boat is more than 2 nautical mile. It takes a step further and stops almost immediately. Finally It gets far enough from the port of arrival, while the boat is still far from land. While browsing, on the port side of the boat, the nearest land in England is more than 20 nautical miles.

Who can explain why the alarm did not really respect the settings that I choice ?

Re: Watchdog Plugin

It starts already with a missing name for the title bar of the properties window.
"Properties de cette alert" ??? Which alert? There are several alerts to be configured. I don't know what developers think when programming such things. The average user should not use this plugin or what?
