Vector Charts

I have been using OpenCPN with CM93 charts on and off for a while and I am happy with the information I can bring up on screen except that I can find no way to bring up place names. Is this not possible (they come onto the screen with MaxSea, using the same charts) or am I omitting to activate something?

Turn SHOT IMPORTANT TEXT ONLY off in the options, and try experimenting with the modes (mariners standard etc). There are place names on my computer so good luck

I would like to kick this up a level as I've got the same problem on 2 (Win7) laptops. I'm a geek & have messed with many of the check-boxes on the Vector Charst tab of the Toolbox, but I can't get the place names to appear as they do in MaxSea.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks -- Jon s/v Ocelot

Did you try clicking on the big "A+" on the main toolbar? (Ver 2.2)

Took me a long time to figure that one out!

Ah - thank you very much! I wonder why that doesn't default to On?

Actually, what I'd very much like to see is a search mechanism, where we could find islands & towns & such.

All the best -- Jon s/v Ocelot

Hey Sinbad, that's a cool find. Thanks.

Unfortunately, it only works while we're connected to the Internet. Our 3G modem keeps us connected much of the time now (especially in Malaysia) but it's still frustrating having the info in CM93 & not being able to get at it.

I also notice that FindPlace isn't perfect. If I give it Pulau Pisang, it finds one in Indonesia but can't find the one in Malaysia, even though the Malaysian one is marked & available in Google. And it doesn't seem to have a way to say "No, not that one, try again."

But it's still a keeper URL - Thanks!
