V4.8 - Show Tides and Show Current
Since I use the updated version 4.8.0 of OpenCPN, the 'Show Tides' and 'Show Current' buttons (in the tool bar) doesn't work correctly. The map Symbols are HUGE, and the graph doesn't pop up when right-clicking the symbol. PS1 - I can't attach a photo, neither activate any BB code, though BB code is supposed to be 'on' ! Any clue ? PS2 - my configuration is : RPi3, OpenPlotter 0.16.0 beta, OpenCPN 4.8.0 PS3 - How can I insert a (CR+LF) ?

Re: V4.8 - Show Tides and Show Current
Hi,
had the same prob. One of the latest update of the pi fixed it.
Did you try sudo apt-get update and then sudo apt-get dist-upgrade after using oc 4.8.0?
Regards
Andreas

Re: V4.8 - Show Tides and Show Current
Hi,
Didier, as I wrote, I had the same problem. But after I made an upgrade of the raspian all was fine and it works again like a charm.
I run oc on a pi2B

Andreas

Yes Andreas, I've just done that (after a backup !) but it didn't solve the case ! Which version or raspbian do you use ? My OpenPlotter is baked on Jessie...

Re: V4.8 - Show Tides and Show Current
Hi,
raspbian jessie, Kernel 4.9.35-v7+
First I tried to install a new harmonix file -> no sucess
Then the update -> first no sucess
Then I made an update (the sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade thing) at the 10th oktober and since then it works
I had exactly the same problem like you. Only the big tidal bars and when right click nothing or a corrupted Windows opend.
Regards
Andreas

Re: V4.8 - Show Tides and Show Current
I suspect a difference in repository.
I am using OpenPlotter 0.16.0 and the issue may be in the ppa...
What distribution are you using Andreas ?

Re: V4.8 - Show Tides and Show Current
Hi,
Didier, I attach a pic, that shows my sources.list-file.
I use the repo from raspian and the repo wich is recommended for oc in Debian enviroment.
I have oc locally build but before that I used the ready build packs from the repo and they works good too (except the windbarb-prob in gridoverlay).
Hope this helps.
Regards
Andreas

Re: V4.8 - Show Tides and Show Current
Thanks Andreas29,
I got the answer on the OpenPlotter support forum : OpenMarine - OpenPlotter
I copy/paste it here :
" The issue is that the monitor screen setting is not found. Change the automatic setting to manual. Measure the With of your screen and put this in the manual setting."
And then every thing was OK (after a reboot).

Re: V4.8 - Show Tides and Show Current
This problem is still not fixed. If automatic screen detection is used on the raspberry pi, then tides/currents are still broken since commit 2b2224e62798c5f5f71589234fd604fadad9612b

Re: V4.8 - Show Tides and Show Current
Sean...
Such a commit does not seem to exist in any of the source trees I can see.
Code:
$ git describe 2b2224e62798c5f5f71589234fd604fadad9612b
fatal: 2b2224e62798c5f5f71589234fd604fadad9612b is not a valid 'commit' object

Improve monitor size detection logic on GTK. (FS#2193)
I think I fixed the problem, and strangely it only affects some raspberry.. anyway, this seems to work:
Code:
diff --git a/src/OCPNPlatform.cpp b/src/OCPNPlatform.cpp
index 7793d59..ed4249b 100644
--- a/src/OCPNPlatform.cpp
+++ b/src/OCPNPlatform.cpp
@@ -1588,7 +1588,9 @@ double OCPNPlatform::GetDisplaySizeMM()
#ifdef __WXGTK__
GdkScreen *screen = gdk_screen_get_default();
- ret = (double)gdk_screen_get_monitor_width_mm(screen, 0);
+ double gdk_monitor_mm = gdk_screen_get_monitor_width_mm(screen, 0);
+ if(gdk_monitor_mm > 0) // if gdk detects a valid screen width (returns -1 on raspberry pi)
+ ret = gdk_monitor_mm;
#endif
Unfortunately there is similar logic in the grib plugin. Maybe the plugin api could include support to query the screen size to eliminate it.
