Using Open CPN on an Android Device in 10 minutes or less.

It's dead dog simple but requires that you have a computer already running Open CPN and a wifi network onboard. The network does not have to be connected to the internet.

Download Pocketcloud from Googleplay and install. It's free. Download the PC version to your PC and install. It's also free. Log in to your google account.

That's it. Now you can see and control *any* program or files on your PC from your android including Open CPN. This works with many platforms and seems to be incredibly versatile.

Please feel free to discus related topics here. Also note that the thread has *not* been dedicated so pretty much discus anything.

Thanks to Tore's advice on the other thread I can confirm that a similar sequence of actions substituting Teamviewer for Pocketcloud will yield the same outcome. There's a setting in Teamviewer to accept incoming connections on the PC from the LAN. Select that & you're good to go.

Thanks for the input but this topic has already been covered several times in previous threads: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...oud-94191.html

Here is an interesting article for those interested in porting Ubuntu onto certain tablets.

Which leads one to this...

If it were not for warranty concerns I might try this. I might anyway!

Good deal Tore, And thanks for putting me on to this originally. I've started to look into mini "stick" PC's and tablets running Ubuntu. They are low power draw and could be a part of an ultimate solution.

The great thing about sharing in an open forum is there's no telling where an original topic will lead eh? And like the rule of the sea, we tend to come to each others assistance freely and with kindness.

Thanks

George
