Uninstall problem - 3.3.1606

Hello,

I am encountering a problem with uninstalling beta version 3.3.1606. I have searched the forum, but can't find a solution to the problem, so I'm hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on the issue.

I am running OpenCPN on Windows 7 Home Premium. When I opened Control Panel/Programs and Features I found that there wasn't an entry for OpenCPN. So, I looked in the OpenCPN folder in Program Files (x86) for an uninstall program, but found nothing. I found this odd because on another computer on which I am running OpenCPN 3.2.2 there are a number of uninstall programs.

I checked the install log for 3.3.1606 and it indicates that the uninstall program was installed, but there is no sign of it.

Is there an uninstall program that I can use to remove 3.3.1606 or do I need to manually remove the folder and registry entries? If I do it manually, which registry entries do I need to remove?

Are there any other issues that I should be aware of when removing 3.3.1606, either with an uninstall program or manually?

Thanks.

Re: Uninstall problem - 3.3.1606

The OpenCPN setup program does create an uninstaller, but if a plugin was installed by copying the plugin into the

Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCpn\plugins\...
folder. Running the uninstaller after a plugin was copied into its subfolder will remove all of the files and folders that were originally installed (by the setup program) except the plugin and and possibly some folders used by the plugin. Then, the uninstaller removes itself. After this, the Control Panel will no longer list OpenCPN as an installed program.

The solution is to manually delete

Code:
...\OpenCpn\plugins\...]
and subfolders, being careful to not remove other files or folders under

Code:
Program Files (x86)\...]
OpenCPN and its setup program do not make any registry entries. So, there should not be a need to make any deletions or changes in the registry.

I have had similar issues with other applications in the past.

I don't know if it applies to OpenCPN, but I if you re-install, I expect it would recereate the uninstall entries, so then you can remove the application as it was designed.

"re-install, I expect it would recereate the uninstall entries, so then you can remove "
This is correct with Win7

Re: Uninstall problem - 3.3.1606

Thanks all,

I thought about re-installing with the hope that it would recreate the uninstall program. Unfortunately, it is a beta version and Sourceforge only has the stable versions available for download.

There are a few registry entries, but I'm going to try a manual removal after backing up the critical stuff.

Much appreciated.
