Trackpad on a MacBook - scrolling?

This may have been discussed before, but when using OpenCPN on a MacBook Pro, the trackpad does not work like most other apps, and not the way Mac UI guidelines suggest. In particular a two finger drag should pan, not zoom. To zoom you should be able to use the pinch gesture. For example viewing this forum, that's how the Mac trackpad works.

Perhaps there a way some way to configure to do this?

If not, has it been considered?

Re: Trackpad on a MacBook - scrolling?

OpenCPN uses the wxWidgets libraries and these libraries are very new for macOS. In other words neither the wxWidgets programmers nor the OpenCPN programmers follows the Apple UI guidelines. It is getting a little bit better with newer wxWidgets versions now but they are still not used for OpenCPN.

Re: Trackpad on a MacBook - scrolling?

Thanks, I see. Is OpenCPN compiled for Mac within Xcode? The wxWidget documentation seems to suggest that the library must be compiled within OSX. A cursory look at the documentation does not show any event handlers for gestures at all.

Yes, if you want to, as described in https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do..._-_using_xcode

You can sure try the patches proposed in https://trac.wxwidgets.org/ticket/17077
