Thanks for your interest but there is no 4.99 beta release yet. The new code is still under development and changes constantly. Please wait until the first official release.
By the way.....
You will not see your toolbar problem in the first beta release

Re: toolbar problems

I understand.
I know there is a complete new toolbar coming but in the meantime when I use 4.8 the problem is in the 4.8.6 version AND also in the 4.8.8 version.
I unstalled 4.99 now but the problem is still there.

Re: toolbar problems

Aart,

depending on which 4.99.xxx you installed it might have damaged the ini file.
As it is experimental this happened under Windows with the versions from 6 weeks ago.
The actual one is more "benign" already. But still "pre-beta".
And remember: 4.99.xxx will need plug-ins compiled for 4.99+
The standard ones do not run under it.

If you want to play with it despite of the warnings, just drop me a mail.

Re: toolbar problems

Hubert,

I just want to repair 4.8.6.
Just un-install 4.8.6 and install 4.8.8?

Or will installation of 4.8.8 repair the .ini and leave all the other things like plug-ins as they were in 4.8.6?

I use W10.

Aart

Once you have used 4.99.xx you're out of luck.
The ini file has change and installing 4.8.x will not change that.
The only way is to stop O and delete opencpn.ini . On restart O 4.8.8 will recreate opencpn.ini, but you will basically have a brand new installation and have to recreate all settings manually.
For anyone who intend to fiddle with 4.99 now....back up your opencpn.ini file so it's possible to revert to 4.8.8, before even trying....
For the upcoming beta, please read the release notes, for information about this issue.

Re: toolbar problems

Well, for me one of the latest 4.99.xxx did end up with an ini setting that allowed me to use 4.8.6/8 for Windows again on the same machine.
But that said, it is gambling at this stage.
And we did not see a broken tool bar, instead OpenCPN 4.8.6 just didn't start any longer.

Re: toolbar problems

Re-installed 488 .
Now I can continue my classes!

I installed 4.99 as parallel because I thought it was also a parallel .ini
