TideFinder Plugin
Something else to try! A mashup of code copied from the main program which allows the user to search for tidal data on selected dates.
BEWARE: Time zone used is the one set on your computer, not the station timezone, so check with tides from the main program for the offset, if any.
The harmonic data is the data in the main OpenCPN TCData folder.
Source Code:
https://github.com/Rasbats/TideFinder_pi
The plugin allows the user to select from one of four locations, displayed after selecting the 'Tide Finder Position' item from the right click menu. The locations are based on the position of the cursor on the chart when doing your right-click. You may need to make the text for the locations larger by using the Tools options.
Runs with later 3.3 betas and O4. NOT 3.2.2.
The compiled plugin for Windows is attached.
Please let me know of any errors.
Mike

Re: TideFinder Plugin
Hello Mike,
I tried this morning your new plugin finder Tide.
Very good first impression. No crash. No blocking.
But after doing a test on a position, it is impossible to change position.
A feature required : On the chart displayed by the tool O, we obtain information (yellow area) about the current by moving the mouse on the curve. This is not the case on the curve obtained with the FT.
Best regards. Gilletarom.

Re: TideFinder Plugin
Gilletarom,
Did you try right-click again in the new location? I did not want to clutter the screen by leaving a list of ports on display.
I need to take a closer look at the mouse function.

Yes, of course.
I also tried disabling the plugin then reactivated. I also tried to stop O and restarting. Nothing to do.
I just try again. O had stopped, I re-started.
The icon of the FT was still present in the icons bar. In the context menu, there is the command "Tide finder position." I clicked it. The window that indicates to right clicked opened. So I right clicked: No effect.
Here joined my log file and my ini file.
Gilletarom.

Re: TideFinder Plugin
Annoying. I can't reproduce this at the moment and the log does not seem to indicate a problem. Still looking.

Re: TideFinder Plugin
TideFinder now updated for OpenCPN 4.2 upwards. Windows compiled release placed in the 'releases' section of GitHub.
https://github.com/Rasbats/TideFinde...eases/tag/v0.1
Sorry Gilletarom ... no work done on the moving line yet.
Only compatible with the standard OpenCPN harmonics file.

Re: TideFinder Plugin
Mike, I downloaded the file and removed the pdf and placed the dll in my plugins folder for both 4.2 and 4.4 and it does not appear in the plugins list. Also my opencpn.log file does not show any attempt to load the dll either. Did a search on "tidefinder" no instance.
Can you rebuild it? It looks interesting.

Rick,
Is there a typo somewhere? I have just downloaded the same file from releases(x2). Works fine on 4.2/4.4 Win 8.1/10.

Re: TideFinder Plugin
Mike, I am sorry. What I did was rename it "tidefinder_pi-ov4.2.dll"
What I learned was the dll is rejected because it is not in the form "_pi.dll"
So I changed it to "tidefinder-ov42_pi.dll" and it works fine!
This will be a great planning tool as well. Thank you!

I was looking for "nearest tide station" and "nearest current station" in the right click menu and found this plug-in in the Beta area - nice addition to OpenCPN. It would be awesome if the Right Click Menu in OpenCPN could have a "list" of the Tide Stations instead of triggering the list in the TF window (that must remain open for the plugin to continue to work...). The list could be 4-5 nearest stations, and selecting them would then display the prediction for that station... The tabular+graphical prediction in TF is very nice and seems like this could all be integrated into the similar display of tidal prediction in OpenCPN (show tides toolbar button) - augmenting the functionality of both and providing easy access to nearest tide station data. Clearly the next right click menu item should then become "Show Nearby Current Station>" with same integration with current predictions...
For now I'll add TF and live with the crazy "don't close this window or else" functionality...
Best, CaptPat

Re: TideFinder Plugin
The plugin was last updated on Sep 22, 2016, nevertheless it compiled and displayed just fine on O5. I have only tested on Linux.

What does "crash my system" mean exactly this time?
