Thanks for the Great Work

Hi to all,

and thanks very much for the great work at OpenCPN. I was testing the last few days with OpenCPN and CM93 Vector Charts. I was impressed very positive.

Because of your unpaid work it is a bit unpleasant for me, but nevertheless I will state my wishes here:

1. Route Upload to GPS
I am using Garmin EtrexH and CM93 Vector Charts. Building a route is no problem but sending this to the GPS results in nothing. There are no routes or waypoints on the GPS after sending the route.

2. Chart visibility
When a chart with higher solution gets into the center of the window, the charts with lower solution is no longer visible (s. attachements "solution1/2.jpg"). It would be nice to see th charts in every position.

3. direction of buoyage
I would like to see the direction of buoyage in the Chart (s. attachement "buoyage.jpg").

4. colour for the routes
I would like to have a stronger colour for the active route.

5. colour for buoyage
I would like to see ALL buoyage in colour; not only the lightend one.

6. measure tool
I would like to hev a measure tool which allows to measure a line of multiple segments.

Thanks for feedback
Joe

Hello Joe,

1. Route Upload to GPS
Known problem, please take a look at sourceforge for bug discussion

2. Chart visibility
"Quilting" is being worked on by the lead dev

3. direction of buoyage

Does this exist on paper/raster charts? I thought it's only done for traffic separation schemes and the like

4. colour for the routes
There's a trial patch available on this forum by Piotr, do give it a try

5. colour for buoyage
Just what I was thinking the other day, see the attached screenshot for an example. Two buoys opposite each other, perhaps different types, but still makes display scheme look incoherent

6. measure tool
I find the route tool to be efficient for this.

Thanks for your reply

Hi,

thank you for your reply.

--> OK, fine. But I can't find this in the buglist. So long I use export to GPX an something like easyGPS for transfering the data to GPS.

2. Chart visibility
"Quilting" is being worked on by the lead de
--> OK, this will help.

3. direction of buoyage
Does this exist on paper/raster charts? I thought it's only done for traffic separation schemes and the like
--> Yes. On paper charts. Without this, it is a bit difficult to know, on what side the red/green buoyage is.

4. colour for the routes
There's a trial patch available on this forum by Piotr, do give it a try
--> OK. I will wait for the next release.

5. colour for buoyage
Just what I was thinking the other day, see the attached screenshot for an example. Two buoys opposite each other, perhaps different types, but still makes display scheme look incoherent
--> OK.

--> You are absolutely right.

Thanks for your work
