Submitting code through GIT?

Greetings developers...

I have developed a small new feature for OpenCPN that I'd like to submit.
It was developed on a MSW machine, after installing everything according to the instructions on the site.

Now this is the first project ever that I have used GIT in, and being an old SVN guy I do not know my way around it that well. In my SVN life, not having commit rights meant submitting a patch file. But I seem to understand with GIT it's done differently?

Maybe someone could provide a small step-by-step that gives the recommended way to submit new feature code for review and possible inclusion?

There is a short git intro, for opencpn here Developer's Guide | Official OpenCPN Homepage I hope that can be some some help.

I think Dave like patches in flyspray, it doesn't have they much to do with git.

JesperWe..
If it's something bigger, consider making an account on https://github.com/ where most of us minor contributors tend to reside.
If you have any more questions, just ask.

@balp: Hehe, I was a bit blind :-), only went to the "Compiling..." page, not to the parent... Thanks.

Maybe the compiling page could have a "For GIT HowTo" link back?

Ah... See that's what confused me. The compiling instructions had me cloning from Sourceforge. So I thought "How can I fork a Sourceforge repo on Github?!?"

But I see now that I should have cloned from Github originally. Maybe the compiling instructions should say "If you intend to develop new code, make your local clone from Github instead"?
