Static position without GPS fix possible ?

Hi ! I'm going to set up a pc with opencpn + ais receiver at a lighthouse, The pc will all the time be placed in top of the lighthouse and the intention is to use the AIS target list to plot bearing and distance to AIS targets as seen from the lighthouse.

When using a connected GPS, the AIS target list shows bearing and distance to AIS targets and evrytihg works as expected, but if the GPS is disconnected - bearing and distance is not displayed.

I hope it it possible to save the cost for the GPS since the equipment is permanent on the same position and the location is known.

Has not found any way yet to get the bearing and range of ais targets to be displayed without a GPS fix position.

Any idea of how to simulate a gps fix position to be used with the ais plugin "ais trgets list" ??

Petter...
You can let the VDR plugin play one GPRMC sentence in a loop, for example. Or if you don't want to have the VDR plugin installed/visible, use something to play it over TCP/UDP/virtual serial port (like Hakan's https://github.com/Hakansv/Send_NMEA_COM if it is a Windows machine or simple shell script using netcat on Linux/Mac)
