Share your VDR recordings here

I think it would be nice, for testing purposes, for us to share some of the logs that we create using the VDR plugin. I've attached one showing my crowded river below.

I do not currently have my electronic (autopilot) compass or depth sounder interfaced yet. I also have a just-announced wireless wind transducer on order that I will interface via Bluetooth in the future. So right now my attached NMEA log only contains GPS and AIS data. (please remove .pdf extension after downloading, then unzip to .txt and open/play using the plugin)

I am concerned about how OpenCPN rotates charts when an electronic compass is interfaced and there is a side current. Is it course up (with boat's angle slightly skewed) or heading up (with boat's COG slightly skewed)? If someone who has his compass interfaced could post his own VDR log, I'd be able to see for myself, especially if the example shows sailing in a cross-current.

Rhyth.....
Here's one I've once got from this forum so I'm not aware of the originator, but it has both compass, wind and also a crossing AIS for Alert alarm testing if you like. The boat is cruising but no obvious current.

And this is also with a compass, deep, sea temp and wind but a bit booring since I'm moored at home.

Thanks for posting that. I played the first file, and it confirms what Dave told me - O has both compass and GPS course, course up mode continues to be course up, with course predictor vertical and the compass indicator slightly off vertical.

I also confirmed that setting "Filter NMEA course and speed data" to 5 seconds or higher provides significant damping which reduces the undesirable random rotation of the screen.
