search in AIS targetlist

When a list with AIS targets is to long (>1.000) it is not possible to sort the list by name. A few seconds it is sorted but then it flips back to unsorted. (At least, this is the way it happens in Windows.) In that case it is very difficult to search for a special taget by name.

Is there an other way to seach for a special AIS target by name?

Re: search in AIS targetlist

Make the list smaller by limiting the distance radius.
Obviously there are less than 1000 ships within e.g. 3 miles around you.

Re: search in AIS targetlist

Aart,

I will take a look and see what might cause that. It should not happen I think. Probably it has to do with some ships leaving and/or adding to the list causing the sort order to be reset. It can be fixed I am sure.

From the manual

Quote:
Sorting targets

Click on the header in a column to sort according to this criteria. For example, clicking “Range” sorts the targets with the nearest target on top. Click one more time to get the target, furthest away on top. There is an “autosort” checkbox. When checked, auto sort is on. May be unchecked/rechecked any time. The autosort checkbox is automatically unchecked when target count exceeds 1000. However, it may be rechecked directly by the user, even if the target count is exceeded, and will stay checked.
IIRC Dave (bdbcat) had some worries regarding performance if constantly sorting more than 1000 targets.
