Search Function Plugin

Hopefully, the search function (FS#246) will finally be implemented, preferably as a plugin. I think we need no minimize the feature set for the first version. What do you think must be present in the first version of a plugin?

fgd3 has the following input:

Important features:
1. User chooses to center search around either Ownship or an arbitrary location.
2. Search can be restricted to one or more feature classes.
3. Search results show latitude, longitude, distance from search center.
4. Search results ordered by distance from search center, closest first.
5. Selecting an object from the list of results centers chart display around that object.

Note: The plugin will only work for CM 93 charts (more to come??)

Please feel free to contribute to this project (specification/code/testing).

Re: Search Function Plugin

For those who does not have acess to FlySpray: The search function is a proposed feature for object search (e.g., names of islands) in the chart. Say you want to find out where "Dog Island" is. The search function will find it for you.

Re: Search Function Plugin

... and if you make a mistake in writing the islands or village name, it should anyway be found.

for example islands in Norway often have different ways to be written,
like Dimnøya = Dimnøy = Dimna , so only "dimn" is identic.

or swedish Öckerö = Oeckeroe = Ockeroe

whats funny , even within cm93 the spelling can change with the zoom factor. See OEckeroe: 057 42 58.938 N , 011 38 49.265 E
