Re: Sean's Optimum Branch Merge

Not sure if it's to be considered a bug ore only a glitch, but when I startup O the screen remains grey. Moving the mouse, zooming or panning gets the chart up.
I didn't notice this on previous releases.
Running Linux and openGL enabled. Disabling openGL chart is popping up immediate.
No gps connected.

Re: Sean's Optimum Branch Merge

Folks...

Next stage of Optimum merge is in github, and ready for test.

This is 3.3.1712, and includes at least:
1. Accelerated smooth zoom and pan.
2. Arbitrary rotation angle ("[ ]" keys)
3. Other stuff, Sean?

Initial known problems after quick test on linux:

a. Chart outlines do not rotate.
b. Some quilt problems on rotation without OpenGL.

Happy testing.

Re: Sean's Optimum Branch Merge

Using the 17.10 I got from Gilletarom (who got it from ? )
the only snag is soundings when using (true) S63 charts. Only part of the view is filled (at times, position varies) and the values jump (correction rather flicker) a bit when I pan

Reason could be that soundings are NOT in position (see pic, over land)

PS The memory leak problem seems solved

Re: Sean's Optimum Branch Merge

No crashes so far with diffs of v3.3.1712 using OS X 10.9.2 with wxWidgets 3.1.0 and Xcode 5.1.1.
No action to be seen with keys "[" or "]".

Re: Sean's Optimum Branch Merge

Am I on the right download here....

git clone git://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN.git

Says 3.3.1710, looks like I'm a day or so behind.

Works fine on a new cubietruck, but plugins not showing in the menu- should they be?

Great work gents!

If you installed correctly, they should. What does your log say about it?

Re: Sean's Optimum Branch Merge

a weird panning effect is introduced.
Panning from N to S I get parallel black lines. Panning from S to N goes fine, E W and vv also no problem.
To make it a bit more complicated it only occurs at certain window sizes. When I made the window smaller for the print screen, the effect disappeared.
Using OpenGL, under gentoo linux with a intel i915 card.

Re: Sean's Optimum Branch Merge

If I click at the O icon in the application bar in my Kubuntu

OpenCPN starts. Clicking again I expect the previous application window back. But that does not happen, O just flicks and remains in focus.
Testing on latest Git alpha - 3.3.1712

Re: Sean's Optimum Branch Merge

That's what I feared
Try reverting https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/c...a694ea182abe28 and I'm pretty sure the behavior will be fine for you (and broken again for me)

Re: Sean's Optimum Branch Merge

The errors further down seem like you have downloaded x86 plugins and try to feed them to ARM, that can't work. But it's puzzling that it says that even for grib which you just built...
Looking at the timestamps, are you sure that the part of the log you are looking at is from the very last run of your just built OpenCPN???? 21:36 UTC could be, but followed by 8:42AM, which was before the last changes made it to github?

I had big problems last night after a crash with libraries which apt-get... reinstall seemed to fix so possibly those lower errors are irrelevant.

But still no plugins, any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Sean's Optimum Branch Merge

Those errors are very relevant, especially
Code:
21:36:33 UTC: PlugInManager searching for PlugIns in location /usr/lib/opencpn
/usr/lib/opencpn/libgrib_pi.so /usr/lib/opencpn/libgrib_pi.so: invalid ELF header
But of course just in case they come from the last run of the version you just built...

Could you run it once again, do nothing except, just quit it, and post the output of
Code:
tail -n 100 ~/opencpn.log
?

And I suppose you did "make install" and did not change the prefix from /usr/local...

Ah, yes I think these problems already existed for course-up mode.. and they are already fixed in the optimum branch, so will be fixed with the next changes.

This is a bug which I believe may still exist for intel even on optimum branch. The option (not yet merged) to disable the accelerated panning fixes it, but someday we hope to fix the root problem. I have been able to produce it E and W but only overzoomed.

For everyone who experiences problems not in the previous beta: read about "git bisect" it is a great tool we can use to find regressions easily.

Soundings not in position occur after panning. Zooming in or out bring them back in position...(OpenGL on)
OpenGL off: soundings can only be seen in some areas or are displaces. Panning/zooming seem irrelevant...
