Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

Dave, I believe Pavel or Sean helped write it. I think Pavel worked on squiddio and sean on goodanchorage.

I wish someone else would test it'

I've tried it on 2 machines with the same result.

I don't think it should be released in its present state.

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

Dave,

You should download these from
Opencpn Beta File Thingie rguser rgpass

Look in the earlier folder 4.1.1108 PI Win

goodanchorage_pi-0.3-ov4.1.1022-win32
squiddio_pi-0.5-ov4.1.602-win32

They definitely work. I just tried them again and have some screenshots to put up on the pages for these plugins.

also there are links to the the respective web pages.

Windows 7 HP laptop Opencpn 1301
I just now:
1. Uninstalled goodanchorage
2.Downloaded goodanchorage_pi-0.3-ov4.1.1022-win32.exe
3. installed same
4. enabled goodanchorage PI
5. activated goodanchorage in the toolbar
6. double tapped in the keywest area
7. 4 WP appear near Wysteria Island, 2 of them fail to give a WP screen when right clicked. Pan to the NE right-clicking and most will not give a WP screen.
8. deactivate goodanchorage/ and then reactivate (in the toolbar)
9. Now most of the WP (but not all) will give a WP screen

Sometimes I have to deactivate/activate/double-click several times to get the data to load.

I have a W8 system with Opencpn 4.0 and don't have any problems.

I wonder what is different between my system and yours.

I don't have any problems with sQuidio.

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

Sean's Plugins have been updated to use opencpn.lib for version 4.2.0
Before using these plugins, first check the main website for plugins that have a more recent date or later version number. These plugins are intended to be the most recent 'beta' versions. However there may be some overlap with the main website downloads. These have all been run and seem to work properly.

Some of the newer plugins are quite small but very interesting and could be very useful.

Opencpn Win Beta File Thingie rguser rgpass

4.2.0 WIN PI

celestial_navigation_pi-1.11-ov4.2-win32chartscale_pi-0.2-ov4.2-win32
climatology_pi-1.1-ov4.2-win32
projections_pi-0.1-ov4.2-win32
rotationctrl_pi-0.1-ov4.2-win32
statusbar_pi-0.6-ov4.2-win32
sweepplot_pi-0.9-ov4.2-win32
watchdog_pi-1.9030-ov4.2-win32
weather_routing_pi-1.82-ov4.2-win32
weatherfax_pi-1.5001-ov4.2-win32

Not included due to failure
rtlsdr_pi-0.14-ov4.2-win32 (it freezes Opencpn)

Sean needs Instruments - Wind, Speed & Depth!

Hey guys,

Sean really needs some instruments! It would really help development! Seriously.

Isn't someone moving on to new instruments, and yet the old ones provide nmea0183 output? That's what he needs.

If he were to have some of these instruments, he would be able to extend Watchman_pi and SweepPlot_pi and who knows what else!

If you have some older Wind, Speed & Depth Instruments with nmea 0183 output sitting in your boat pile, send them to Sean. He needs them and they will find an excellent use.

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

All one really needs is some NMEA playback stream files to test plugin code.

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

This may be true, but as I mentioned earlier I am not going to bother with developing something that I cannot even use myself.

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

I think Sean has a good point. Why don't we find some used B&G instruments for him? Someone must have changed instruments and have perfectly good ones in a boat bin!

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

TDan, nmea data stream is pretty good test, but I think with ocpn_draw, watchdog and weather_routing using boundaries and the need for more/better watchdog alerts as well as improving and expanding sweepplot to other data streams, Sean needs an active nmea data stream. It will help all his plugins.

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

Beta of Sean's most current weather_routing_pi will be uploaded to 4.4 Win PI directory.

This plugin only runs with OpenCPN v4.4 (I don't know why it can't run with v4.2 because v4.2 has the grib changes! - Maybe something else requires the version change that I don't know about.)

Also the Incompatibility messages must be more persistant and explicit!! Tremendous waste of time and aggravation!

IE "Grib is Incompatible: You are using wx_routing v X.X which does not work with Grib_pi X.X or Opencpn vX.X"

On June 9, 2016 someone wanted a routing from Falmouth to Las Palmas, I was not able to do it because of the state of the plugin, but here it is now, working.

So give it a try but note several things and pleas advise.
1. The polar files are being installed to
Quote:
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\weather_routing_pi\data\pola rs
which cannot be written by the program, so we think these should be copied to here:
Quote:
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing\dat a\polars
2. The boat.xml files are being installed to
Quote:
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\weather_routing_pi\data
and we think these files should be copied to
Quote:
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing\dat a
3. Then in the plugin "Edit" Boat, make sure your boat.xml is in the ProgramData path.

4. Then make sure each polar file "Added" is in your ProgramData path to those new directories.
(These paths should be made automatic.)
Then the plugin should work.

Thank you Sean. The interface looks simpler and hopefully we will understand how the Crossover Tab works as we get using it.

New WR plugin in ocpn 4.4

Hi,

The new version of WR (weather_routing_pi-.-ov4.4-39e448-improv-gui-sean-master-win32.exe) does not compute in openCPN 4.4.

It seems to start but after half a second status shows failed.
This is after a completely clean install of ocpn 4.4 and the above version of WR pi.

The previous version of WR_pi gives and incompatible message with the new grib pi.

Being unable to revert to ver 4.2 (no windows install binaries posted anywhere), I'm kind of in limbo.

Please help,
David

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

Move the data/polar files to a directory that is writeable. I use program data/opencpn/plugins/weather_routing_pi/data/polars/. I also copied the all the data files over to the similar location. Then it should work.

Note this is a BETA plugin. You are testing. Thanks for your help. Report results please. Release will have corrections.
