Re: S63_PI Beta Test 0.5.0

Hello Dave ,

Let me bore you again. The topic is , once again , the " language files " competitive.

OpenCPN in the file, there is the item " Charts" which is used in the tabs of options. It is located in the "Charts " tab. Can effectively manage the charts. But we can also manage pilot-charts and data of tides and currents.
Thus long in French , I translated "Charts " with " Cartes/Données" ( Charts/Data) .

In the language file of s63 , it will also item " Charts" . I translated it by "Cartes".

so :
- This item is present in both files
- The " s63 file is read after one of OpenCPN .
consequence:
- This is my second translation that appears on the screen.

In reality, it is not dramatic . I could replace my translation in the " OpenCPN file " with " Cartes ."

But I 'd rather let the old " language file " of OpenCPN quiet , and be able to change the " language file " of s63 .

To do this, it would be nice to replace the item " Charts" of s63 by "Cell". I can then translate into " Cellules ."

I 've managed to convince you ? I do not know , but in any case , thank you for reading .

B.R. Gilletarom.

Re: S63_PI Beta Test 0.5.0

hello Dave,

Just a little bug in the S63. To import charts, you must click on "Import Charts/Updates." the first time you click this button, you just get a change in the positioning of the slider in the window. Must re-click a second time to the windows explorer opens.

bcn...

I do not observe a memory leak.

I need a little more information, please. OpenGL? Quilted? Screenshots, maybe?

Thanks
Dave

I cannot reproduce this on XP.
Anyone else see this phenomenon?

Thanks

Re: S63_PI Beta Test 0.5.0

Hello, Dave,

This morning, after re-run the PC, I try another. And I notice that there is the same problem with the button "Import cell permits" but not with the button "Remove permits"

Confirmed on W7:
Open Options , Charts, S63, Charts Tab.
Click on "Import Cell Permit" just moves the tab some pixels , the second click opens the file dialog.
If you abort and try a second time the two things are happening at the same time:
tab jumps and dialog opens.

Dropped you a mail with a series of screenshots and different settings.. Seems that Quilting or OpenGL has no influence.

Re: S63_PI Beta Test 0.5.0

memory leak:
Observing the same at OS-X 10.9.2

- with a slight difference: when leaving the program static, i.e. doing anything, the memory usage is getting smaller again. This does not happen in Win.

Most probably normal behavior: grabbing memory for the charts applied.
In the Win case allocated memory even increases continuously by small chunks when no panning or no zooming happens.
So OS_X should be ok.

hubert/Gilletarom...

Regarding:

I must be stupid, or dense. I cannot reproduce this problem on XP or W7. I also wonder why you have a scroll bar on the options->charts->s63 charts page. I do not unless I manually reduce the overall size of the options dialog.

Hints? Maybe a video?

Thanks
Dave

Re: S63_PI Beta Test 0.5.0

Hubert...

I cannot reproduce a memory leak on S63 charts. On XP and W7, memory grows when I pan/zoom until all available S63 charts have been loaded once. Then it stays more or less static.

Will you please try to check without AIS and ownship GPS connections active?

Do you happen to have a public TCP AIS feed for southern Spain?

Thanks
Dave

Re: S63_PI Beta Test 0.5.0

Gilletarom...

I have implemented most, maybe all, of your suggestions.

1. In parallel install, provide the latest parallel installation as the default install target.

2. Delete superflous .mo files from the plugins/s63/lib directory after install.

3. Correct behaviour when all cell permits are deleted, so that empty folder is removed from options->Charts->"Loaded Charts" tab. This turned out to be a Windows only problem, so I missed it earlier.

4. Add new message for case when userpermit or install permit is not entered from beginning.

5. Changed "Charts" tab to "Chart Cells" to ensure unique text.

6. Incorporated your latest translation .po file. Of course, it is now incomplete.

So, in preparation for the next Beta, please check and update your .po file from the github repository, available now.

Also, please check the installer messages in
https://github.com/bdbcat/s63_pi/tre...nguage%20files

There have been some changes here.

Other translators are invited to contribute as well. Please post translation (.po and Langstrings_xxx.nsh.in) files here.

Only thing missing now is:
a. Scroll bar jump on button push.
b. Possible memory leak.
Investigating both.

We will see a new Beta in the next few days.

Thanks
Dave

I have reported a (kind of) "memory leak" in the "S-63 Official Vector Charts now Available" thread. (W7, without AIS or GPS feed, quilting on)
S-63 Official Vector Charts now Available
Let me attempt to describe
I have a few S63 charts from Chartworld (see pic)
I open each chart in turn by centering with a click, zooming and hitting the bottom green tab. Then I zoom out and select a chart by clicking and zooming. Most of the time, the chart won't be visible at any value of zoom, and I have to click the green bar again. This apparently increases memory usage, up to 1,5 Mo of Ram, then the computer becomes slugish and eventually hangs.

Dave,

under Windows installing and not changing anything there is a scroll bar and only a two or three line long S-63 log window.

When enlarging the window until the slider disappears the file dialogue prompts up at the first click. With the lower window and hence the slider you have the effect Gilletarom described.

Dave,

sent you a mail with a screenshot video.
With COM off (no GPS, no AIS) I can reproduce the memory increase when the ownship icon is visible on the canvas. This happens only with S-63 charts.
Changing over to CM93 everything is ok as it has always been.

Hubert
