Have a look at the S-63 0.5.0 thread.
I'm testing to get that narrowed in, but no conclusions yet.

Problem is understood now. Dave will correct it with the next beta of OpenCPN.

SailorF54...

Memory leak on S63:
This is understood now, and will require a new OCPN Beta to correct.

Meanwhile, as a test workaround, please disable Depth Soundings in Options->Charts->Vector charts.

Thanks for your patience

Re: S-63 Official Vector Charts now Available

Hi.
I have a user in OpenCPN Norway forum that states that the charts only works when he has a internet connection.
Do you have to have an internet connection to display the charts or have he done something wrong?

Please advice.

Re: S-63 Official Vector Charts now Available

Hi Frode,

the plug-in and the supporting features have been designed for sailing - the only time you need the Internet is getting the plug-in, the UserPermit and the InstallPermit.

And this can be done at home or at an Internet cafe - not necessary to be at the boat at all.

We have just the report back from somebody who made Malaga - Mallorca - Malaga with S-63 charts.
OS-X, so no memory leak...

The user might perhaps go through the support video we have published at "downloads" at o-charts.org.
What errors does he get? And as always OCPN version, plug-in version, OS, etc. please.

If the user starts OCPN offline, he's only presented with the overview chart, not the ENC's.
If he starts OCPN online and looses connection, change zoom or click the chartselector at the bottom, the charts disappears and he's left with a white and grey background...

He is running OCPN BETA 3.3.1606 and has a 3 month license from Chartworld.
There is no errors shown when this happens.

Another question also, is it only the ACES enc's that will be available on ocpn or will the Chartworld charts also be available. I rather prefer the CW charts compared to the ACES. Link to CW charts: ChartWorld - Shop - Cw_enc

Please advice.

I just tested:
Closed the Wifi connexion
Opened O 1606 offline
My ACES S63 open fine

Please advice.
He might try the new beta with a clean install (1731) ?

From our database it looks that "Sole" is on Linux. Is this correct?
The first one (but us), so we might see new things..
But as we said - from the design no Internet is required.

What does the log say?

With "Show Chart Outlines" activated, does he see the outlines?
Quilting on?
Do the chart selectors at the bottom show up?
What happens selecting charts from there?

How is the connection to Internet established?
A fingerprint from the machine in a moment without Internet connection would be helpful as well. Sending it to info@o-charts.org please.

The ChartWorld charts and the Navionics Sets offered at ChartWorld are delivered as S-63 cells and are covered by the plug-in.
There is a user from Norway already with some ChartWorld charts.

Delivery format is a bit different when uncompressing the downloaded files:
every chart/cell forms it's own small delivery set while in the "official" sets you are getting all under one ENC_ROOT directory.

The Navionic sets in S-63 format are checked, recompiled and grouped by ChartWorld from Navionics base material once per year.
We have no feed back about those in this moment.

Was surprised that the plug-in worked with the 3.3.1731 at all.
But that means that we are getting closer to a 1.0 of the plug-in.
Surprises like the one we are seeing now not excluded...

To be honest, I get a lot of freezes with 1731 when quilting is on (proc use 100% for an indefinite time)

1731 is the worst beta ever has been published.
All users here in my country claims about it.

Re: S-63 Official Vector Charts now Available

My comment has nothing to do with a general judgement about 1731.
There are changes with respect to S-63 which I expected to break the 0.5 version of the PI.
