Can't really help but in the past when I had problem with the plugin, I disabled it and used:

Started rtl-ais from the command line and imported IMEA data under options:

It worked so much better.

The new version of rtlsdr plugin for opencpn has rtl_ais built into it. It can also execute rtl_ais as an external program.

The purpose of the plugin is to start rtlsdr reception of ais when opencpn is run, and stop reception when opencpn exits.

If you want a different behavior or for debugging purposes, you can just run rtl_ais manually without using the opencpn plugin. Alternately you could have it run at startup as a system service.

No matter what you do, you must calibrate the dongle correctly. I am unaware of a program that can autocalibrate it easily. The plugin can do it inefficiently and slowly (takes minutes) if there is sufficient ais traffic.

Does this mean that we don't need AISMon and SDRSharp? Just Zadig in the opencpn folder.
