Resolution BSB/KAP files.

Hi all!

I have been searching the forum for this but have not found any answer.

I am in Recife Brazil and have updated the BSB/KAP charts via the downloader.
There is a specific port further south named Porto de Suape which we intend to visit. After downloading latest charts I was suspicious of the low resolution I saw in OCPN so I created a new folder with only 2 files in it. The 906.BSB and 90601.KAP. Loading this directory instead gives me the resolution expected. See attachments below.
Is there some setting I have to tweak to get it to read the high resolution chart ?
Am I doing something wrong ?

Running Win7 and OpenCPN 4.4.0

No difficulty (W 8.1; O 4.6.1) but you have to zoom hard for the 90601 chart to be displayed as its scale is only 1:15000, while the smaller scale 93001 that 'covers' it is at scale 1:100000.
Note that you can force the large scale 90601 to be displayed by clicking on the leftmost blue chart button at the bottom of the screen

PS 906BSB is not a chart, but just the header for 90601.KAP (means 906-01, that is the first (and only) chart in the 906 series) and it is not used by O.

Looking at your pictures I can see that you are in "Single chart mode".
Change to the default "Quilting mode" by pressing the "Q" key.
With quilting on OpenCPN will automatically change to largest scale chart available when you zoom in.

In the "Options / Display / Advanced" the cursor can be set from -5 to 5. Try to put this cursor at 2 or 3.

If you ugrade O from 4.4 to 4.6.1, now, there is two cursors. One for vector charts and one for raster charts. Try with the raster charts cursor.
