On the page referred to by "Gilletarom", under the heading "Commercial Nautical Charts for OpenCPN/All platforms", there is one source for raster charts and one for vector charts, with coverage of Croatia.

Yes, these charts are the official ENCs and are distributed/licensed in the encrypted S-63 format.

To use them you will need the S-63 plug-in.
More info in Help and at o-charts.org as the gateway of OCPN for the S-63 stuff.
A chart catalogue you will find at Chartworld.com

Thanks for help.. I starting GET now...

In other words: If I buy ChartWorld - Shop - Cw_enc 9C1CHART The World Chart than I get whole world charts and Croatian Adriatic Sea are there sure too.

These are S-63 charts and with o-charts.org I can import this to OCPN.

Last question: How much arehttp://www.chartworld.com/shop/cw_enc 9C1CHART The World Chart quality? This is best choice in charts? What I must know there

Re: Recommended charts Adriatic Sea (Croatia) for OpenCPN

At Chartworld at the shop select ACES (ENCs) in S-63 format and then there are 95 cells/charts for Croatia.
If you are licensing charts you can choose to go for just 3 months - you will have the charts afterwards still, just no updates any longer.

Quality of the charts: nobody knows when the charts have been surveyed by the national Hydrographic Office, but usually the companies offering charts for the leisure market like C-Map/Jeppesen, Navionics, Garmin.. are using these maps plus raster charts as basis for their collections.
Think that the HO's are working basically for Governments and business related traffic or affairs. So the coverage of secondary harbors may not be perfect - something that happens even in France.

It would be interesting to hear from your experience about quality if you go this way.

The World Chart just wrote to me:
Please be informed that our 9C1CHART, The World Chart just includes a world coverage of overview usage charts. It does not include general, coastal, approach, harbour or berthing chart usages.

My questions:
I am hear from some person that he loads successful C-Map on OpenCPN. Hard is know in advance as lot not so clear to me. As i see this too: Chart Formats | Official OpenCPN Homepage (C-map Version 3, and later, are in a preprocessed proprietary SENC format and are not supported.)

I am think buy C-Map:
- Can I in OpenCPN insert more chart types and switch from one (The World Chart) to another somehow (C-Map) etc?

Re: Recommended charts Adriatic Sea (Croatia) for OpenCPN

Maxipoint,

what Chartworld tells you is that there is nothing like a complete world set or similar. I you want to use S-63 charts you will have to select the cells and license those for the region you are interested in. And with the scales/details you need.

Actual C-MAP or Navionic charts as used by chart plotters are not usable under OCPN as the Wiki explains.

ChartWorld just wrote:
We have all official ENCs and non-official ENCs (Navionics) in S-57/S-63 format for this area. I recommend the Navionics chart folios 1I03008 and 1I03009 covering the full Adriatic Sea including the requested usages.

Than these charts are supported by OpenCPN and have general, coastal, approach, harbour or berthing chart usages for Adriatic Sea it seems finally?

Re: Recommended charts Adriatic Sea (Croatia) for OpenCPN

Maxipoint,

we know from one OCPN user who used the Chartworld Navionics sets in S-63 format (Greece).
We tested the sets for another region by our own.

There have been some issues of proprietary objects and Navionics did not provide us up today with all the required documentation to iron this out and to be sure that all items are rendered correctly.
Therefore we don't recommend these sets at this moment.

What will work are the Croatian S-63 cells - this is plain S-57/S-63 chart material.
In the Chartworld catalogue you will find all these (95 cells in total) which cover everything from Overview to Berthing. Most probably you will not want to select all due to the cost. Remember that you can license for just three months what brings costs down.
