question about ENC format files

I downloaded a few ENC files off the NOAA site, unzipped them, and looked at them inside openCPN. Although I could see buoys and water depths just file, all the text I'm used to seeing on paper charts (such as bridge clearances, town names, compass rose, and misc chart notes) were missing. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just the way it is with this format of e-chart?
