Plugins in Marinux

I am running the dedicated marine OS Marinux. Just installed the 4.0 opencpn and really like it. BUT, i am having no joy with installing any additional plugins. This is what I see:

marinux@xinutop:~$ sudo apt-get install opencpn-plugin-statusbar
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
opencpn : Depends: opencpn-tcdata but it is not going to be installed
Depends: opencpn-gshhs-low but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tim

Re: Plugins in Marinux

I don't deal with packaging but I can tell you that statusbar should not depend on tccata

Re: Plugins in Marinux

Tim...
There is no dependency on the GSHHS data in any of the official plugin packages, the only dependency there is the opencpn package itself (which in turn *does* depend on the GSHHS data).
The only possible conclusion is that OpenCPN installation in Marinux, while functional, is a bit broken from the package manager's point of view.

As far as I remember, Marinux is based on some version of Ubuntu, so the solution probably could be to get rid of the OpenCPN version it contains and install the official pacakges we provide on Launchpad. Unconfirmed as I don't have Marinux at hand.

Yes, you can use sudo add-apt-repository and install official packages
Marinux is based on Ubntu 12.04LTS

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:opencpn/opencpn
Code:
sudo apt-get update
Code:
sudo apt-get install opencpn-plugin-statusbar
