Re: PlugIns and internationalisation

Rick and developers..
No, I haven't walked through all plugins to check for new strings.
I think the method introduced by Pavel that plugin developers or anyone else well informed gives me, Pavel or Dave a note that no more strings will be added in a close future.
Then we can update Crowdin (by a "pot" file) for the translators to complete.
If I get a note I mostly would be able to produce the pot-file as well. But we need the note that strings development is ready.

When translations are ready the language files will be fed back to the plugin using a pull request.
And then - and this is not simple. When are the translations ready? How long should we wait? Some languages will never be completed.
One/Two weeks after Crowdin (pot) update?

If I get a note about a need for Crowdin update I can for example post that information in the plugin thread and "International" thread and also state a last date for translation completion?

But - again - neither of Dave, Pavel nor me can have more than a basic clue of when strings development is ready. We need a note.

Re: PlugIns and internationalisation

This is helpful Hakan. Thank you.

1. Plugin developer determines when to advise Hakan, Pavel & Dave when there are going to be no more new strings so that a *.POT file can be developed.
2. Hakan, Pavel or Dave develop the [plugin].pot file and post it to Crowdin announcing a deadline by which language updates must be ready.
3. Hakan, Pavel or Dave make a Pull Request to the plugin developer with the completed language *.PO files.
4. Plugin developer merges the Pull Request and then the languages become available when the plugin in built the next time.

Is this what you think should be posted as a part of the process Hakan?
It appears we may want to be aware of which plugins are being developed/improved and thus likely having new strings added.

So far, the list is ocpn_draw, weather_routing and BR24. Sean has some relatively new plugins, that might need language files, chartslider, projections, rotationctrl, sweepPlot. Also what about oBabel, Tidefinder and Nmeaconverter?

Perhaps those authors would advise?

Re: PlugIns and internationalisation

Rick
Your numbered list seems valid for me. If no other views it will fit as a description of the translation process.

New Crowdin plugin projects will be added as soon as authors, or translators, make a request. No problem with that.

Thanks for your care.

@Translators
Crowdin is today updated with couple of new strings for ocpn_draw_pi.
