Re: OTCurrent Plugin

OR
Provided you have windows.
You can also try this OpenCPN Beta File Thingie user: rguser pass: rgpass
Then go into the 3.2.2 PI Win directory you can download it there and execute the file it will install into your Plugins directory.

By the way, I've changed the directory but provided a redirect from the original location, so all the links should work. If there is a problem let me know. Also cleaned it up.

Users should get the plugins from the main site preferably, but sometimes they are not the most current beta version, or are not there...

Sorry, the phony extension is a trick we use to get CF to accept the upload onto their server.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Hi all...
I have fixed a few minor issues with the plugin and prepared it for "official" release, the builds are already available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/ope.../otcurrent_pi/
Let me know if you find any issues.

Thanks

Pavel

Hi Pavel

Runs fine on W7

A minor problem with the installer.
I have O on my desktop, in a folder named OpenCpn4.0.0 'cause it's easier to tweek it when it is there.
When I point to that folder (or to the plugins folder within), the installer appends an /opencpn to the path, which is a nuisance... (see #1)

A major nuisance is that one
In Atlantic / Channel France, we often use a specific set of tide and current data provided by Merak56. For tides, it's easy to point to both the 'classic' set and to that specific set, as set in the 'options' pannel, and both are available for display
With OTcurrent, only the set which is at the first level in the tcdata folder is available for display (the other one must be in a subfolder, as the files have the same name)... (#2 may be clearer !)
Moreover, it would be nice if the specific set could be accessed while in the Usertcdata folder in O's init folder, as it is permanent and not affected by new beta installs...

Hi,

It is very nice extension.
Is it possible to add nice icon for the "Journeyman" style of Toolbar?

Pavel,

I love this plugin. But the current vectors still do not adjust their direction when the screen is rotated (typically via course-up mode). This could create a serious issue for someone traveling due south with course-up mode activated, as the vectors will point in the exact opposite direction than they should.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

The OTCurrent plugin has been updated to allow for course-up mode.

GitHub has been updated. I would appreciate some help with updating SourceForge.

Attached is the compiled plugin for Windows.

Please test and let me know of any errors.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Mike...
Any other things you want to work on or do you consider it ready for release? If so, I will do the rest of the builds and include it on the download page.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Hello F54,

Yes, I did see your post. I am reluctant to make it easy for users to select a 'non-standard' harmonics file. For computer savvy users rearranging the files in the appropriate folders would be reasonably easy.

My concern with the non-standard harmonics is that they lead to predictions of linear tidal flow direction. In areas like the Channel Islands the direction of flow is definitely non-linear and could compromise safety.

I hope this explains why I have not made it possible to select from a folder other than the main tcdata folder.

Regards,
Mike

Hello Mike

I understand your concern, although I don't share it. Those non-standard harmonics have been used by hundreds of French sailors for years (the tide data has been checked carefully). And there are many areas in which tidal currents is roughly alternating, in the Channel as well as in the Atlantic part of France. However the choice is yours.
I guess we will have to fork your plugin to make our own, to remove the inconvenience of juggling the data...
Thanks anyway
François

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Mike I test it later tonight on windows. Any chance you could have an option to make outgoing current arrows hollow with a thick line that can be seen easily? Thanks.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Hello Mike,

I tested with a VDR file, the latest version of OTCurrent .. The suitable "Course Up". It seems to me that it works correctly.

Should be able to view the same graph as that can be achieved with the integrated tool on O.
So we could permanently hidden the icon of the O icon bar (not the OTCurrent)
