Yes I've run it and made some initial tests like running the VDR simulation. But more to be done. Graphic behaviour on newer systems than mine, route handling etc...

The zip-link below contains my opencpn.exe file and an updated opencpn.pot file.
Please be informed of that the exe file also includes the AIS Country codes. See also #1559 (This could be seen as an unconscious lobbying for FS#1161 : AIS Add country to the target query dialog

Sean..
If you should like to include the AIS country codes to your version please find my Git diff to the latest 13034 attached (Discard .pdf).

Is this new pot file is only for 3.3.1303.4 or for 3.3.1303 ?

Yes and No. I made the pot from 13034. But version 13034 is based on 1303 so changes in 1303 are reflected also in 13034. But 13304 contains more so it's basically aimed for the exe file in the same zip.
(Understandable??)

Re: Optimized Opencpn: Testers Needed

Sean...
There's a couple of missing strings for translation in 13034. What I could see it is because of missing files in the "POTFILES.in" I don't know the routine for to update that file but please find attached a updated one if you like to use it in next version? (No .h files added. Please do if you are aware of strings in new such files.)

Hum ... Not shure That I undestand ... In fact, unless otherwise Dave, I'll wait for Dave so the next "normal" beta version to send him an update file from its pot and I'll make one for the beta version of Sean. But I will not put this translation on the wire "I18 internationalization" in order not to mess.

Yes - I think it wise to wait. This Sean test is nearly an alfa one. When no one find any more obstacles and all agree I think it will merge into the "normal" chain of beta versions? (But I think every translation you already have done is left in Poedit's data base and will be suggested if the string comes in with another O version.)

How much video memory do you have? WHat operating system?

I Also tested on another machine. A rather old Lenovo R61 running Win7. There the raster charts is slightly faster but on the other side the vector charts is slower.
My personal conclusion is that I will still not use OpenGL when cruising. And also is that not a very big thing. The charts and all other needed information are there also without OpenGL.
I'll continue to run this version to check for more notes but so far I've nothing else.
Thanks Håkan
I am still working on my idea for improving raster chart performance. On most systems the speedup will be huge. I expect perfectly smooth operation on a raspberry pi. In the mean time, could you test it when disabling texture compression in the opengl options?

Can anyone find any more problems with this version? I want to try to find any bugs I could have introduced, because I want this to be finished before it is. It will likely be a few weeks or longer before it is merged into the beta versions because we must be very careful, and dave is also (wisely) suspicious of making so many changes at once.

Sean

Zoom to cursor does not work. Toolbar icons "+" "-" still zoom away. See post #98.

Re: Optimized Opencpn: Testers Needed

does this require a mouse with a wheel to test?

Re: Optimized Opencpn: Testers Needed

Yes, or a touchpad with scrolling bars. The issue is that the cursor location has to be saved before the call to DoZoomCanvas.

Code:
           if( g_bEnableZoomToCursor ) {
                // Capture current cursor position, as the zooms below may change it.
                double zlat = m_cursor_lat;
                double zlon = m_cursor_lon;
                DoZoomCanvas( factor );
                wxPoint r;
                GetCanvasPointPix( zlat, zlon, &r );
                PanCanvas( r.x - x, r.y - y );
            }else{
                DoZoomCanvas( factor );
            }

Win-XP @ ~2 GHz and ~2 Gb mem. Old graphic card ATI Mobility Radeon X600 128 Mb (1680x1050)

Yes I've tested with or without all of the different available options.
I've also changed OpenGL options for the graphic card. From high quality to high performance. Using the latter every zoom step takes ~5 sek instead of ~7 seconds. I've also used different values for texture dimension (20-500) and memory - no change.

Re: Optimized Opencpn: Testers Needed

Sean..
One note: (Still WinXP, 128 Mb graphic)
Sometimes when I start version 13034 it happens that all rendering is collected within one cm2 in the upper left corner of the screen. You can see the boat symbol up there. It doesn't matter how I try to change the zoom level. It's all the same. It's hard to describe but see my captures viewing two different zoom levels. Then after a minute or two the screen comes back to normal.
I was not using OpenGL when this happens but when I ones tried to change to OpenGL during the odd screen behaviour there was a crash.
And I don't think this behaviour is introduced in 13034. I've seen it also in the version before.
