Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

It was crashing because 5.0 has OpenGL set to ON automatically. I suppose need to figure out what that means.

Overboard,

Read my previous reply. There may be a solution if you read the above message.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Thanks, I have, and I did (read & dl 5.0.604). Brilliant.
But does a blank OCPN icon signify a problem? If not, I can live with it.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

If this is Windows, sometimes the icon appears only after some restarts and not on a first shot.

I have had blank icons a number of times on earlier OpenCPN versions. I just used the Windows option to change the icon. Right-click the OpenCPN blank icon and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu. Click the "Change Icon" button. Look in C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\opencpn.exe for the correct icon.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Fabbian, Thanks. I had tried the change icon and it did not work. But after I restarted... bam! The change icon worked. My retentive nature is becalmed.

overboard..
This seems to be a Win10 specialty. I've had the OCPN icon on/off for a year or so. Mostly on last months.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

I can't really find an appropriate topic for this message. Before I go on, I would firstly seek your pardon if this is not the correct topic to post under.

I have just post an article called "Learning the dark secrets of marine electronics" in my blog, https://bb-sailor-dog.com

It's a tribute to the creator(s) of OpenCPN and the likes.

Hope you will enjoy the read.

Thanking you and happy sailing.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

I need help,
I am using the latest Open CPN ver.5 and I have just noticed that the depths are not showing, I am running windows 10 on pc
When I first installed it a few months ago it was working fine with depts showing, this week the depths disappeared but contour lines still show. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled from the newest download rebooted the computer and still no depths.
Please help

Mario..
First check is you didn't deselected it?
See my shot. Open the chart menu. Check "Show depths" (Or keyboard shortcut "T"). Also Display category needs to be at least "Standard" or why not "All".

Mario..
No, but from a ver 5.0.xx. So what would you say is of any difference from your menu?
The Q remains; do you have "Show depths" selected?'

Remember that shortcut keys to toggle things are:
Soundings S
Text T
Visibility V

Perhaps you've hit the S key?
