Removing and reinstalling the O5 program does not solve the problem.

Any suggestions?

Is there a way to return to a previous configuration?

Stop OpenCPN and rename the opencpn.ini file. This will take you back to a fresh install, but not your previous configuration.
The trick here is to figure out what the problem is in the renamed ini file. If that can be done, there is a fair chance to get back to where you started.
What does your opencpn.log say about this particular chart?
It would be interesting to have a look at the problem chart and the renamed ini file.

Thanks but like magic things are back to normal. Not sure why but will carry on.

Thanks for the tips .. may come in handy as I thrash the new program.

Re: GE2KAP charts vs OpenGL

I've found that newly created charts using a route from OpenCPN 4.8.8 and GE2KAP will not display in O5 with OpenGL on.

First image is with OpenGL on and second with OpenGL off.

Charts previously created with GE2KAP display OK as shown by the KAP chart above the offending KAP chart.

Terry...

What happens if you zoom in on the new chart? Or switch to single-chart mode (F9)?
What is the scale of the new chart?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

geoffr...

I see the large mbtiles file, and the crash on loading.
I can fix the crash OK, but it seems the tileset is somehow corrupt or incomplete.

Does this tileset display properly on any other software? MapTiler shows nothing.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

Dave,

Now that I've played with mbtiles and SAS some more it's not surprising to me that you say it's corrupt. In SAS it will create an mbtiles file even if you haven't download all the tiles, so perhaps it's creating the file incorrectly as there are missing tiles? I'll try again after downloading the tiles and see if that fixes it..

Yes, perhaps the LOGIN part is not prominent enough, but without logging in the Menu Choices are not available.

Now I have Version 5 beta running on OpenPlotter on the Raspberry Pi, The missing items were required from the former 4.8.8 version, which i had removed first to install a new version.

What have I done:

restore version 4.8.8

add-apt etc does not work.

with Synoptic I added the bdbcat server setting

Then I got an error about the missing key.

Added the missing key in the keyserver.ubuntu.com

Searching for Opencpn. Then the latest version appeared. Updated only OpenCPN.

And now version 5 is running on my PI.

Works great ! But installing this one is rather complicated for the rpi.

Thanks all for your advice,

Bram

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

The file 'GribRecordSet.h' in the main OpenCPN program has changed with the new beta.

I think plugins using plugin messaging with the Grib plugin need to use the new 'GribRecordSet.h' file.

Hi Dave,

1. Zoom in has no effect. Still does not display @ 1:3250 scale of O5

2. Switched to single-chart mode from Options, not F9, and crashed. Crash report sent. Pressing F9 switches left canvas to basic chart and leaves in split-screen (image).

3. Scale of chart is 1:2230 Can be downloaded here.

Terry.
On TanjRhu KAP chart:
Some problem with the chart. Doesn't work right on O488, either.
A quick look at the KAP, I suspect the georef table is in error. I see two different lat/lon locations for pixel point(0,0).
