it was about fast switching one or two canvas. and quick change of templates from the dropdown list.

Chart Groups if displayed on the panel will also be convenient to have all the options in one place.

the v5 link points to the Google plugin and not to the debugger plugin...

Dave,

Here is the link to the larger mbtiles file which cause a crash when scanning for new charts. (A log was sent from OCPN with an earlier version of this file): Florida_panhandle_Bing_Navionics_18

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

Dave,

I think I have found part of the reason for the problem below. If I create a mbtiles from SAS with zooms 9-12 I don't see the OverZoom notification as I zoom in. If I create an mbtiles with zooms 8,10,12,14 I do see the Overzoom even when a new set of tiles is shown. (uploading a file now - ready later today)

  1. When I create a mbtiles file in SAS with multiple zoom levels when OPCN displays it the first zoom level is fine, but as soon as I zoom in I get an OverZoom warning even when it shouldn't (ie the correct images are shown at the next zoom level)

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

Dave,

Here are the files which show the problem below. You may need to zoom in/out to have it happen. (I have just these two files in the chart group)

Florida_panhanle_Bing_Navionics_12

Florida_panhanle_Bing_Navionics_14

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

Dave,

Here is the mbtiles file which shows the problem:
Florida_Bing_Navionics_8_10_12_14

Note: the imagery is a bit odd/confusion as I hadn't downloaded all the tiles. but still shows the problem.

Geoff.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

I had a bit of a problem with dependencies.
I think the problem was rectified when I added the main distribution PPA to my test machine. Just using the ppa:bdbcat/opencpn didn't work.

Anyway, it is running well under Linux Mint in a VirtualBox with Linux Mint as the host.
CM93 and BSB/KAP raster charts working as expected. Quilting etc ok.
The old Mariners Standard seems to have gone - no bother there - and a big improvement in the list layout of the vector objects.

The Split Screens are fantastic - well done to all concerned.

The only problem I can find is the "Show Depth Units" and "Chart Outlines" switches have gone. I like to remove the "Depth Units" on my systems.
I've looked but I might have missed the settings if they have been moved.

I can't wait for this to be fully released.

Simply fantastic

EDIT
I remember split screens on a previous PC Nav package where there was an option to "link" the split screens so that as you panned one the other panned as well. A bit gimmicky but looked flash.

EDIT 2
I've found a way to switch Chart Outlines on/off in the Menu Bar but there doesn't seem to be a way to disable "Depth Units"

These are per-canvas setting, click on the "hamburger" icon in the small canvas toolbar at the bottom and a window to adjust these setting for the respective chart canvas will slide out of it's right edge.

Just go to the chart panel menu - the burger right bottom.....
There you will find your choices - quicker than before.

Chart outlines: an alternative is the short cut key: "O" ("oh")

Portable version of O5 creates OK

The previous problems of a stray CHRTLIST.DAT file and crash report have been corrected.

This version creates OK in a portable mode.

Thanks, Terry

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts VDR Plugin

Once playback of a VDR file is enabled, the playback window covers the icons for VDR Record and Play.

Clicking on the red 'X' of the playback window does not stop the playback.

The workaround is to move the playback window away from the taskbar to reveal the VDR icons and then click on the Play icon.

Alternatively, use CTL-F4 to close the playback window and reveal the VDR icons.
