You can get it here: http://www.biopic.co.uk/data/Soton.txt

This is just one example. I get the same problem with plenty of others too.

In fact, personally, I'm satisfied with Defender. And I do not have a problem.

A number of OpenCPN users use another antivirus. And just now, AVAST has prevented several users from installing O or letting O start.

One of them indicated that the problem was now resolved and that AVAST no longer prevented the installation of OpeNCPN.

Note : I use VDR to display my VDR file. No problem. All is Ok.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm pretty convinced it's something to do with the RPi graphics.

duichan...
Well, I'd transferred from my VDR on Win10 via UDP network to my RPi2B, Rasbian, O 4.8.0 and CM93. All AIS are fine there as well.

At the locations where you see black splotches there are AIS targets that are "moored" and O draws them with a black dot. I suspect there is some problem in rendering this black dot on your system but cannot really be sure.

Are you using the scaled graphics interface? Does it change if you turn that on or off?

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.8.0 Released

Hi,
Compiles and works fine on Orange PI plus2 (no OpenGL, still crashes when I enable) seems like slightly snappier response. AIS, tracks, etc. all working. There were a couple of install warnings about library versions, but it still installed fine.

Cheers, Eric

Repeating this with the AIS data edited out of the VDR file and all is fine.
This file previously played perfectly in O4.6.

Switch VC4 to off. It is still not working very well. OpenGL can be run without the VC4.

Take the latest kernel version.

Yes I can confirm that switching off VC4 cures the problem. Everything worked before, so it's something that was introduced in O4.8.0.
Is there really no way to rollback to O4.6 for the time being? I can't find any trace of the old installation package on the internet.

I don't think it is a problemen with OpenCPN. It is the VC4 driver. I have tried the VC4 setting several times. But after some actions problems did occur in every version.

We will have to wait until VC4 is working rather well. Eric Anholt is working on this driver allready for a very long time.

For a good working system, it is beter to avoid the VC4 (still mentioned as an experimental) driver.

And with the latest kernel versions the OpenGL setting is also working fast.

Regards,

Bram

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.8.0 Released

Using the same ID for different checkboxes results in a crash here.
See "ID_MAGSHOWCHECKBOX" in options.cpp at line 3937:

Code:
    //  "Mag Heading" checkbox
    pCBTrueShow =
        new wxCheckBox(panelUnits, ID_MAGSHOWCHECKBOX, _("Show true"));
    unitsSizer->Add(pCBTrueShow, 0, wxALL, group_item_spacing);
    pCBMagShow =
        new wxCheckBox(panelUnits, ID_MAGSHOWCHECKBOX, _("Show magnetic bearings and headings"));
    unitsSizer->Add(pCBMagShow, 0, wxALL, group_item_spacing);

I wasn't really suggesting it was OpenCPN as such, rather something that was changed which has revealed a problem with VC4. As you say, it works pretty well without VC4 enabled anyway, so I will leave it as-is now.

Gerhard,

Is it on Mac? No crash in Windows.

I will look further into it.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.8.0 Released

I just tried 4.8.0 and have serious problems with mark displays. Maybe a configuration setting, but it's unnerving that this is even possible, Problem is that - as I zoom in (using either mouse or keyboard), marks disappear when charts are swapped to higher resolution charts. This is with ENC charts and "chart quilting" enabled.

Below is a sequence of screenshots showing this behavior. Only thing I did between each screenshot was to press "+" once to zoom in and then converted to animated GIF. For the record, the charts show the Oakland harbor entry area in the San Francisco Bay.

They should be viewed in increasing numbers from 002 to 016. I removed some from the sequence to stay below the upload limit of 12 files.

This is all on Debian unstable 64 bit.

I played around with "" but I have to crank it up all the way to "5" before this no longer happens (which results in a very cluttered display).

My ideal scenario would be that marks _never_ disappear when zooming in.

Was this behavior different in 4.6.x?
