Re: OpenCPN Version 4.4 Released

Possibly something to do with changes to Options and not having toolbar icons up when Options is open due to need to change settings.

We have had no widespread reports of trouble on O44, but maybe most Windows users have not discovered OpenGL....

I will send a logfile after I've looked it over a bit. Since this is a portable installation, I tend to run it on multiple machines, so the file could have confusing results from different hardward/OS combinations. (Although so for the OpenGL has failed similarly on all machines.) Also, I am trying to test a "clean" version with as few alternate settings as possible to make sure it's not something I've done.

Let me run some more controlled tests first and then I'll get back to you.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.4 Released

I had a simulair problem with a touchscreen. The problem was the calibrating of the touchscreen.

After adding the touchscreen calibrations programms and doing the calibrations.

That is 4 crosses on the screen. After clicking the crosses the screen knows what is the position is of your touch finger.

You have to do that every time after a start. But there is a way to fix the settings in one of the X11 files.

That solved the problem. It seems that a button is not reacting, because your touch was not in the right place.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.4 Released

Hi,
I have just been testing OCPN 4.4 (commit 790509fa) and there is an issue with the Waypoint Properties panel when displayed on a small screen. the OK and Cancel buttons cannot be accessed as they are off the bottom of the screen. The attached screenshot is from a system at 640x480 as this was the easiest to do. I have the real issue on a tablet which is displaying at 1024x520.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.4 Released

In this case the slider only does the internals of the tab, the OK and Cancel buttons do not show up. I have put up a pull request for a change to make it work. This issue was the minimum size was set to 600 explicitly which was bigger than the screen. The change gets the screen Y dimension and sets the min to the minimum of Y and 600. This allows the properties to display correctly on screen with a smaller size than 600.

The layout of the properties panel seems to be a bit 'sparse' with large amounts of 'white space' which, I think, should be looked at to make it more compact. But that is a cosmetic change.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.4 Released

Can anyone confirm if the 4.2 pluggins are compatible with 4.4.

I am about to go from 4.0 and didn't want to download everything at home and then find they didn't work when I installed them on the boat.

Thanks

Possibly you might get an answer when you tell us which operating system you are using.

Yes, they are. Operating system does not matter. The only exception is weather routing which needs an update to understand the data structures changed to support grib2.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.4 Released

Not all of them are compatible! Particularly ones that utilize gribs, ie wx route. The beta version is working, but requires a workaround in windows. Sean is working on the plugin. The grib2 issue is fixed though. There may be some others.

Also Sean is trying to work around a user writing back to programfiles ib windows. To make work files and dir have to be changed. Confusing for users.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.4 Released

I just noticed an annoying problem with v4.4 on Windows. Import a .gpx route and bring up route properties. Click on a waypoint on the list, press the down arrow key to move to the next waypoint. Under previous versions this would allow you to step through a whole route, and the chart would pan to center each waypoint. Under 4.4 on my machines, the first time you hit down arrow you advance successfully, but focus shifts to the chart window instead of staying in the route properties window. Additional presses on the down or up key then pan the chart without advancing the waypoint. For proper behavior, focus needs to stay on the route properties window, not shift to the main chart window.
