Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

sbfreddie...

1. I have added the branch "v4.2.x" to github. Clone works now.

2. Are you building for Windows, or linux?

Dave:
Thanks for the adding version 4.2 to github.

I'm sorry I didn't mention which system I was building on.

Its a Tegra TK1 (ARM) running Linux Ubuntu 14.04.3.

Thanks,
Freddie

Which button?

2. second bug... chart downloader doesn't work ALL chart updates FAIL
Just now worked fine for me on Win7 fresh load.

3. third bug...menu bar randomly disappears completely...
correlated to user activity at all?

Thanks
Dave
1. the options button doesnt work ( the wrench) clicking on it does nothing
2. all chart updates fail. my install is an upgrade from 4.0
3. menu bar randomly disappears, mostly as I move the mouse towards the menu bar! almost like its saying " oh no you dont, you dont need the menu"
just seams to decide on its own when it wants to hide!

running on Windows 10

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

pcmm....

An odd set of problems.

We need to reset the config file, I think.

BUT FIRST, please save a copy of your current opencpn.ini file, so that we can reproduce the problem, maybe.

Then, delete opencpn.ini, and start OpenCPN normally. A new .ini file will be created with default options.

If this does not work right, then, as much as I dislike this option, I think you need to reload OpenCPN from scratch. Resetting the config file does the same thing, but you never know....

btw. how did you get to the Chart downloader if the Wrench icon does not work?

sbfreddie...

We do not include the "intermediate" density gshhs files in github repo, because they are so large.

For a linux build, you may want to specifiy the gshhs files to include as documented in CMakeLists.txt...

example:

Code:
$cmake -DBUNDLE_GSHHS=CRUDE ..

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

Hi,
I use linux and had the same issue, however, I worked around this by setting 'SendMailMethod=1' in the [PlugIns/GRIB] section of the opencpn config file. Setting this to 0 tries to use the mail tool, setting it to 1 uses sendmail directly. On Windows it may or may not work. But you can give it a try.

Last night, my first request to send test was dysfunctional. Subsequently, I have not had a problem.
I just tested replacing SendMailMethod = 0 by = 1. It works without problems sousW 8.1.

Franziska..
Grib mails....
Just for info I'm on OCPN 4.2, Win10 and Thunderbird as well, and it works like a charm.
My email client is set to Thunderbird and my SendMailMethod=0.

Grib file particle display on Win7.

I found that with this particular GRIB file, the particle density needs to be increased to 7 or 8 to make particle display persistent and repeatable.

This minimum usable density factor is related to the grid size parameters of the GRIB file. Maybe we could automatically preset the density as a new file is loaded....

Anyway, I guess this could be called a bug, and is worth a mention in the Flyspray bug tracker for OCPN 4.2.

OpenCPN::OpenCPNOpenCPN 4.2.x: Tasklist

Thanks

Thanks Dave,

I have entered this issue in the Bug Report tracker as you suggest.

Kubek

P.S. OpenCPN 4.2.0 works fine and smooth - great job!!!
Thanks again for your effort.
