Sleep on it. This morning my brain propose another idea for moving a WP.
Instead of expanding the yellow square that contains the WP in its center, you can also leave the same square and add a handful to the square. As a panhandle. For example the right side of the square if you are right handed (and left for left handed). By ensuring this, we could continue to see where exactly the WP without masking it with our finger.

This idea would be easier to program it?

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

I cannot get 4.2 to save changes I make to the toolbar (deleting unwanted icons) nor to depth units (changing from meters to feet). And for the latter when the change is made there is no display of the depth units on the screen. On restating the program the toolbar is completely filled and the depth units are displayed in meters.

I will use 4.0.0 until this version beomes stable

I'm on Win10, OCPN 4.2 and have tested both your settings, icons, unit, and the changes are for me persistent over a OCPN restart.
Could it be something on your local system? The ini file opened in another program? User rights? -?? But you say it's working in 4.0?

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

Terry, I don't have these problems on Win10 Surface Pro3. Maybe try a complete uninstall and make sure no remnants in Program Files x86 then reinstall. Maybe a fresh download too.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

If there an answer to the language question, I can then put this under compiling linux User Manual. Thanks

To avoid waiting for the PPA 's to be ready, I un installed my previous opencpn Code:
sudo apt-get remove opencpn
and compiled from source to get the new 4.2 now, using the instructions Compiling - Linux | Official OpenCPN Homepage . In my previous version of opencpn I used Norwegian as language. After installing the new 4.2 with Code:
sudo make install
, only English is available in the user-interface/language menu and I'm stuck with English menus. It seems that all the po files is in place, but I'm still not able to use any other language than US English. OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS x32.

Terry,

If V4.0.0 does not have this problem then please open the file "opencpn.log" in a text editor. Find the last invocation of OpenCPN 4.2 and post the output here. Maybe we can look at the log file and find out why V4.2 cannot write to the file "opencpn.ini". It is not a bug in the program as many others are not having this problem. It may have something to do with local permissions which are different between V4.0 and V4.2. For example, are you logging in with the same user account in both cases?

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

The plugin Celestial Navigation v110a seems not run within OpenCPN 4.2 (and possibly 4.1 too). I'll do some more tests.

Edit: It certainly doesn't work. Black OpenCPN window and OpenCPN stops reacting.

You can attach any file if you copy it and rename it with .pdf extension. For example, suppose you have a file 123354.KAP. If you make a copy and rename the copy 123345.PDF or 123345.KAP.PDF then you can attach it to a posting.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

Hello Dave,

French forum H & O, a French sailor found a problem with the tides.

If you remember, there is a pair of harmonic files, built here in France, which allowed to display the tide for the French coast (Not only).
You could add in "Options / maps / tides" a statement for the file containing these files harmonic, so that other tides are displayed in addition to those supplied with OpenCPN.

I confirm. This no longer works. Another French sailor has to indicate that the only solution is to replace, as of the time of the first versions of OpenCPN, files provided by OpenCPN by French files.

But in this case, those who cross the Channel more have only one visible side. Either the English if it does not change the files or the French if they change the files.

For test, download the files here : http://..../opencpn/HarmonicV9.zip

ou alors, zipper le fichier et ajouter une extension fictive telle que ".pdf" ou ".doc" car les ".zip" sont refusés sur ce forum. (sous réserve que le fichier ne fasse pas plus de 400 Ko si on ajoute ".doc".

All OK now and thanks for the suggestions. I did an uninstall, registry clean, Windows update, new download and re-install. Working nicely.

Thanks again and sorry to bother,

Terry

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

tiersp...

I downloaded 7130.kap, and tested with 4.1.1301 and 4.2.0.

No difference, and no problems noted.

Perhaps you can post a screenshot of your situation, so we can compare and analyse.

Thanks
Dave
