Yes that is the uninitialized variable patch I told you about earlier. This bug has been in there forever. Just luck that it hasn't showed up more often.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1718

When sailing , I usually close my net book to save power.
This put it in a sleeping mode.
With the previous versions , and with the 2.6 ..... but in no GL mode ,
when reopening , it wakes up and everything works fine
But with 2.6 ... and in openGL mode , I have a big problem :
The net book wakes up , but the screen blinks and impossible to stop it .
Nevertheless , some key are still working , and I can exit by ctrl Q but the display is still out
You can find attached a video and a photo showing what I see after wake up and after exit from ocpn
It is like if the video card would be crashed . The only way at this step is to switch off violently by cutting the power , an re-boot .
It happen almost systematically on my net book XP with an Intel(R) 945 GM video card
It never happened in no openGL mode
I was unable to reproduce on my notebook Vista with an Intel(R) 4 series video card
Does anybody else has this problem ?
Thanks
Jean Pierre

Sorry , I can't attach a video , so I add two photos , the screen blinks from one to the other

This is most likely a problem with your OpenGL driver. OpenCPN does not know anything about the computer going to sleep or waking up. It is the responsibility of the operating system and the display driver to make sure applications continue to run after wake up.

The Intel GMA OpenGL drivers are fairly low quality, unfortunately. If you search the net you will find many many discussions about this. You can start with making sure you are running the most up to date driver for your system. Check http://downloadcenter.intel.com/, select Product Family=Graphics and the appropriate other choices for your system.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1718

...oh and in my testing at least, I find OpenCPN runs better under Intel GMA/OpenGL if the "Device Memory Footprint" setting is set to "Low". This setting is located under "3D settings" in the Intel GMA Graphics settings window, which you (under WinXP) get to from the Advanced tab of your Display Settings. (Yeah, kind of deep down... )

Trying man overboard through Ctrl + space or through the icon creates an instant crash. Repeatable on 64 bits Xubuntu 12.04.
It only happens when gps is active! Using gpsd.

Is this repeatable on other platforms?
What about Windows?

CM93 offset dialog:
Quote:
In the list of cells/MCOVR IDs, selected the one MCOVR of interest. The coverage area for this MCOVR object will be outlined with a heavy yellow border.
The yellow borders are not visible in GL mode.

I have submitted some code that makes it better than what we have now, but it's far from perfect I am afraid.
If that is the case, it looks like a chart data preprocessing job. A lot of work probably, but done only once upon first processing of a given chart file.

Yup. And it's not gonna happen in this release for sure. I also learned that you can check the "Declutter Text" option to get just the first sector displayed. If you're lucky and there wasn't another text in that position before, of course.

That's as good as it gets for now I think. But things improve anyway in this release, since we're now only a quick double-click from the Object Query, which gives the complete info in a much more correct form.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1718

Hello Dave,

With French Language, if I open the mark window properties, the title of this window is in English.

In the po file, there are two items:
- Mark properties
- Mark information

In french po file, these two item are translated by:

- Mark properties ---> Waypoint / Marque: Propriétés ...
- Mark information ---> Waypoint / Marque: Propriété

It Seem That the second item was used, with the old window for the title of the window.
Now, with the new windows, the title is not translated.

See join screen copy.

Thanks for your answer JesperWe

With this parameter set to low , It seams to fix my problem ( I tried about ten times without ) but it creates two other problems :
- a minor one , opencpn is a bit slower
- a major one , raster charts are no longer displayed (dump attached)

In fact the better is with the parameter set to hight , but off course in this case impossible to use sleeping mode

I am searching for a new driver but it seams I have the last one ...

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1718

Chart name changes are not reflected in the Opencpn map display!

I had previously named three charts Rio-1,Rio-2 and Rio-3.
I changed them to Rio-A,Rio-B and Rio-C and did a Force full database Rebuild but no changes took place. Even starting opencpn again did not make the change???

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1718

Hello Dave,
I have a problem with lost or missing entry's in the Font Options dropdown list. Initially, there were several choices such as the new "ChartTexts", but after a few restarts there are just three left.

I've tried a fresh install(W7/64) and removal of the configuration files without luck.

/Anders

Well, to be honest I think you are out of options then. Not even bitching about it on Intel forums will help, since it seems this particular driver is no longer receiving updates. Back to DC mode
