I also noticed that the targets are not drawn until the next chart canvas refresh, so you have to pan the chart a little bit before you can see them if no other action happens.

Thanks. That sorted it out. Can now see the Cape Cod area messages etc.

Dave...
Don't know if it caught your attention - Dirk posted a more complete patch bringing the demo_pi_sample to the 1.8 API at http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tml#post943798

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1624

Problem with the route manager, waypoints tab.

If I order the waypoints by distance (by pressing the "distance" legend button), after deleting one entry the list goes back to the default order. If I press the "distance" button again to order by distance, it gets ordered in reverse order (as if I had pressed it twice).

Besides, it would be nice if the cursor remained in the previous line to one just deleted, instead of going all the way to the first line.

All this in Debian 6.0 32 bits.

Testing on Xubuntu installed on EeePC903. Much snappier OpenGL than with old Ubuntu 10.10.

One peculiar thing with VDR and an ais area file, is that the areas will not display, until I stop the VDR.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1624

Hi,
I tested to import this gpx-file: AnchoragesInCroatia.gpx

you can download it here:

Anchorages in Croatia: Download Map (press the button "download as GPX-file")

I could not make it visible in 2.6.1624 (win7-64)

then I tried with opencpn 2.5 and it is visible. I am told in the
routemanager/layers window that there are 93 items in AnchoragesInCroatia.gpx,

When I install 2.6.1624 it says 0 items.

I suppose there is a bug importing the gpx-file which was not in 2.5.

on the printscreen above you see how the anchor places are shown in version 2.5

and thankyou to the guy (Wolfgang from Austria) who had the Idea to collect anchorplaces and to make a gpx-file out of it .

this could be done systematically for all countries !

here you see the anchorplaces zoomed out.

and , by the way , where I made the arrows , the line with the position is not complete on my screen. I tried to change the font to a smaller one but it seems not to be changeable...in the toolbox/fonts?

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1624

Rik...
The GPX file is not well-formed XML and contains invalid characters that are not allowed to be there. We will probably have to improve the beautifying procedures used during the import and convert them or get rid of them. Will have a look at what we can do about it tomorrow.
Until then a corrected version attached...
BTW, a couple of my favorite places are missing

Hi Pavel,

Please add your favorite places on Wolfgangs site or mail them to me if you want to keep them secret

TESTED YOUR MODIFIED FILE AND IT WORKS WITH 2.6.1624 !
this was express-service !!!

I mailed Wolfgang to have a look here, so he can find out to make his gpx-file more opencpn-friendly.

ps, Wolfgang only lists the "official anchorings" in his file.

"The croatian Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure (MPPI) provides a Concession List that lists the official licensed Nautical Anchorages in Croatia.....Since this Sheet is not very handy to use aboard, I created a little piece of software that adds the information and coordinates of the Sheet to Google-Maps. You can find this Google-Map here, and this is how it looks like."

But, maybe on demand , he will add also "unofficial" anchorplaces in an other colour...

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1624

to late to edit above,... he shows the unofficial anchorplaces in yellow !

Red ... offical Anchorages according to Concession List and additional Info from Ministry

Orange ... offical Anchorages according to Concession List from Ministry

Yellow ... inofficial Anchorages according to readers of my Site and this Blog

sorry , this has nothing more to do with 2.6.1624

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1624

Hi,

I am Wolfgang, i implemented the gpx file mentioned above...

Thank you for telling me that issue.
I just made corrections in the process that generates this file, so now the gpx-file should be well-formed and opencpn-friendly.

Could somebody give it another try, since i dont have opencpn 2.6 installed on ubuntu?

best regards,
Wolfgang

Some notes about "my" features included in this release:

183. Settable default icon implemented - (FS#762)
Default icon for newly created waypoints is now customizable in the config file.
In the [Settings/Others] section set the option DefaultWPIcon to one of [empty, airplane, anchorage, anchor, boarding, boundary, bouy1, bouy2, campfire, camping, coral, fishhaven, fishing, fish, floating, food, fuel, greenlite, kelp, light, light1, litevessel, mob, mooring, oilbouy, platform, redgreenlite, redlite, rock1, rock2, sand, scuba, shoal, snag, square, triangle, diamond, circle, wreck1, wreck2, xmblue, xmblue_, xmgreen, xmgreen_, xmred, xmred_, activepoint] values representing the default set of built-in icons or to a filename of any of your UserIcons, without the the path and .xpm extension. If you have a file called MyICON.xpm in the user icons folder, the value will be simply MyICON
Code:
DefaultWPIcon=bouy1
201. Add option to customize current arrows size.
In the [Settings/Others] section you can set the option CurrentArrowScale to a positive number representing a percentage scaling factor of the current arrows. The values bellow 100 mean the arrows will be smaller than now, the values above 100 will cause them to be bigger.
Code:
CurrentArrowScale=200

205. Implement user definable Tide/Currents harmonic files.

Create a folder UserTCData in your user data folder. Under this subfolder you can then create any number of subfolders, each containing the HARMONIC/HARMONIC.IDX file pair with different data.
The datasets can then be switched in the Toolbox

Hope you can understand how these things work - as some of you already know, I'm not exactly the best documentation author sailing this planet

Happy testing

Pavel

Dear Pavel

This is my first comment on this forum and English is not my mother language, so please forgive any possible communication difficulties

I have been using OpenCPN for two years in a non intensive way, CM93 charts, dedicated USB/GPS and one NASA AIS receiver connected to one USB port via a cable converter RS232 to USB. All works well. Nice program, easy to operate, fast loading.

Some weeks ago I entered a new world, that of calculation of tides.
Tides are quite important when you go into rivers/estuaries like the Tagus, Sado, Guadiana, Guadalquivir, south of Portugal and the Cadiz bay in Spain. Navigating there with sailing boats requires a good knowledge of the tides for two reasons:
Dangerous shallow waters and using the tide currents to go faster up ad down the rivers.

From what I have seen in the Internet there is not such a thing as a world wide tlde table. It exists but most values have great errors.

Having said this I think it is a very good idea, (I would say it is a must) to allow for UserTCtides as you are doing in this version 2.6.

My suggestion is the following: Would it be possible to have different names for HARMONIC and HARMONIC.IDX files, for instance HARMONIC_PT_v1.0 and HARMONIC_PT_v1.0.IDX
All files beeing called the same causes confusion and difficulty to manage the files.

Congratulations for your work

João

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1624

Ciao,

I changed some days ago to the new version 2.6.1624 due to change to a new computer (win7)

The first installation run well and everything looks good...

Now I want to check the new PlugIn but I couldn't find them - In my PlugIn-Configuration folder I only find the Dashboard 1.1 and the Grib 1.3. Where I could find the other PlugIn (e.g. Google) Are they only available for OpenCPN 2.5?

Further I found some strange behaviour in some CM93-charts of missing coastlines in some parts of some charts... (but I think they where allready discussed here) - See attached picture - marked in red.

Thanks for your hints
Michi

Don't run that version, it has lots of bugs.
2.6.1718 is better, and on the download page.

But it has a few bugs too, so a new beta will be out really soon.
