Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

Dave

This issue is already in the tracker as a feature request:
FS#755
Quote:
I think that "Delete All Waypoints" should not delete MOB so easily - only an explicit delete with a confirmation dialog should cancel the MOB (or require to change the MOB to some other mark first).
I think that this is a bug, as it, as far as I can tell, goes against the intentions with the MOB mark.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

Thomas...

I agree.
For next Beta, "Delete All Waypoints" will NOT delete MOB points.
The only way to delete MOB points will be to change the icon through Waypoint properties dialog.

Also, FS#755 moved to 2.6.x Beta tracker list.

Hi Dave

This might sound weird.... I actually want to have a chart group with no charts. Sometimes charts are cluttering up what I want to see.

  • When using GRIBs on NOAA BSB charts, sometimes I can not zoom out, or scale out enough to see wave-height (message: Please zoom out or scale out to see suppressed HTSGW)
  • with the kmzoverlay plugin, I often switch to a chartgroup without any content, to just see the kmz content, on top of the outlines of dry land. See screenshot.
Which leads me to a feature request: I would like to be able to remove all route, waypoints, layers from display with just a button, just like the button for AIS targets. Similar reason as for the empty chart group: de-clutter the display.

Comments ?

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

Hello Dave,

This day, I try my Nv_Verlag Chart (at home with VDR. This helped to highlight vessels with AIS visible on earth!).

And I see that some charts are not correctly positioned. I compared with CM93 on the first screen copy

See all screen-coppy.

Gilletarom....

I don't see the problem. The small scale chart in the third image does not look so good, but it is, after all, a small scale chart.

What am I missing?

In the third screen copy, you can see that the boats visible with AIS are "out" of water ... And the "Route" and the "Track" are not well positioned on the chart.

I thing that the route and the track are well positionned and that the chart is not well positionned.

(Without OpenGL or with OpenGL, there is no difference)

Gilletarom....

OK, do we have another way of reading the NVC charts? Some other program, perhaps? Lets look at the offending chart with that program, if we can.

I have only the (free) sample NVC charts available, and they all look fine. I would not be able to view the offending chart if you sent it to me, since I don't have the proper NVC license....

I suspect this is either a generally bad small scale chart, or incorrect header information in the chart file.

Hello Dave,

Working this day with OpenGL and without openGL, I noticed that the display was of lower quality with OpenGL is that without OpenGL.

With OpenGL is more vague.

I can use NV Chart with "Chart navigator lith" but I cannot use AIS and so I can not see the position occupied by the road and track.

would have to change my file SethDart VDR. Thus, I could then be used NavMonPC with this file. Then I can make believe Navigator ligth I'm really in navigation.

I'll send an email to Sethdart about it.

The chart that is problematic is that the screenshot attached

Please go ahead and test, but I would be surprised if you find any errors in OpenCPN or the nv charts. It's more likely the survey behind the small scale chart.
It is quite common that small scale charts are more inaccurate than larger scale charts. One reason for this could be that they are the last to be updated. Even in CM93 itself this is very common. One example below where even the shape of the river Thames seems way out in the small scale chart.

Another CM93 example here. CM93, of course are all based on raster charts originally.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

Gentleman, don't forget that Raster are Raster and only the Vector S57 done over the last 15 years are half decent. The NTX charts of Transas for example have numerous errors of as much as 100 meters, depending on the date and charts use for it. The one based on S57 are OK, but not the raster.
Regards.

First :

It is possible to use NavMonPC with tre VDR file. It is just necessary to add ".txt' on the end of VDR file Name !

Second :

So I have used my VDR file to run two software in parallell. OpenCPN and navigator ligth. These two software are able to read NV chart.

And I see that the display is the same for the two sofware. So the problem is the chart and so there is no problem in OpenCPN ()

See two screen copy (In each screen copy, there is two windowOpenCPN is left window and Navigator-ligth is in the rigth window.)

Best regards

Dave/Thomas..

We seem to have a problem in v. 2.6.1609 with respect to the AIS SART allert,it aborts OCPN upon receipt of a message.

I am logged in to the world-wide Siitech AIS network when this happens.

Tore....

More info, please. Are these live SART alerts, or testing?

How can I reproduce this?
