Gilletarom,

I noticed the problem, too. There was a bug, FS#633 should fix it. Please test extensively.

Can I alter opencpn.conf / .ini in order to see speed in km/h instead of knots?

No, that is not possible now. Perhaps in the future....

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1310

With respect to the representation of "own ship" and other symbols I stumbled today over this IALA document (AIS guidelines):

site.ialathree.org/pages/publications/docpdf/guidelines/1028.pdf

Annex 1 (from p.116) covers that field.
And the rest of the document is for all who wants to know more about AIS.
There are some comments about the famous "target filtering" as well.

OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1310

Hello David,

Here is a bug that occurs with version 2.6.0-1310. There is no problem with OpenCPN 2.5.0.

A French sailor, who signs "Marsouin", on the forum that H & O, has reported this bug the first. It uses W7. I managed to reproduce it very easily on W XP SP3.

We must use old French raster charts to see this bug.

To get started:
Run OpenCPN 25,
View one of these French raster charts
Plot a route.
Close OpenCPN 2.5.
Open OpenCPN 2.6.0-1310.

It is observed that the road is not the same place on the screen. I placed an independent mark on the road. I found it is moved and remains on the road. Therefore, it seems that the bug is with the marks and waypoints.

Moreover, this bug occurs if the checkbox "OpenGL" is unchecked. But this bug also occurs if the checkbox "OpenGL" is unchecked.

The raster charts are ".Kap" chart. So I made a chart type bsb2 with GE2KAP. And I noticed the difference display. It appears this is not made with these bsb2 charts made with GE2KAP. But the sailor "Marsouin" indicates that at his home, there is a difference

This bug does not apply to CM93.

Enclosed several screenshots. These screenshot are mine. For each screenshot, the name of the version of OpenCPN appears in the name of the screenshot.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1310

Hello Dave,

First, I can say this:

Yesterday after my tests reported in the previous post, I had closed OpenCPN. This morning I opened OpenCPN 2.6.0-1310. And ....

The default here yesterday is not present this morning ....

I redid the experiment. I created a new road. I used first O 2.5. I posted this new route with 0 2.6.0-1310.

There was no lag.

But yesterday, there was really a shift!

See copy attached.

Best regards

Gilletarom

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1310

Hello Dave,

I removed the charts using version 2.5 and I rebuilt the database charts. I closed OpenCPN 2.5.

Then I opened O 2.5 and I handed the charts and I forced the rebuilding of the database charts.

I closed O 2.5 and opened O 2.6.

This time again I have not seen any problem!

Best regards

Gilletarom.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1310

There seems to be many problems with this new version...

1.The additional Mark information POI's do no longer work. I have created literally hundreds of these POI's around the world so far and I would be VERY pixxxd-off to loose them.

2. The AIS query command often crashes OCPN.

3. Running under Vista,ALL AIS targets are deleted after about one hour, never to return or re.initiate reading the NMEA data coming in from the AIS receiver.

I for one, will return to v . 2.5 until the beta version becomes more stable.

1 I have created marks with additional info, the same way I did for 2.5 and earlier. I have not found any problems.

2. I'm not able to recreate this problem, and I have tried....

3. Not able to test.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1310

Thomas..

Re my #68.

Point 1. resolved...probably a local path change. Now working ok in 2.6

Point. 2. I as known error, to be corrected in the next release.

Point. 3. ALL AIS data still disappearing after a certain period around 1 hour.
(Based on Vista ..)

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1310

I can crash O 2.6.1310 at will: browse with CM93 around South Miami / Biscayne Bay => crash. O 2.5.0 is fine

Could somebody else try and confirm?

Dirk

Sorry, but was unable to crash 2.6 while looking around that area.

Please check the .log file after a crash to see if it has any info on why OpenCPN crashed.

No errors in the log, only "loading/initializing charts". I play with it some more....

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1310

Hi Dirk

The crash is a stack overflow caused by the latest cm93 charts. It occurs near the ICW.

Apparently someone became wordy in describing the mileage markers.

If you are building from source I can send you a quick patch.

Regards
Chuck

Chuck, super, thanks!!! I am not building from source, no need for the patch, but please make sure it gets in the next build. Very much appreciated!
