SailorF54...

Regarding cm93Wheel zoom problem:
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tml#post825710

Cannot reproduce.

Is this only seen with OpenGL?
Can you find any reproducible scenario?
Anyone else seen anything like this?

Does this relate to Flyspray issue FS#598?
FS#598 : Zoom in error

Thanks

Re Dutch ENC
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tml#post825673

Works fine for me with Edition1 (2009-04-22). No crash on ingest, good display.

Any more info? Anyone else able to test?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1125

Dutch ENCs ingested fine. But, after I went through about half of them, memory usage for OCPN was up to almost 2gb. Even though I have 6, the system started hitting the pagefile and the system crawled to a stop. It took OCPN about 5 minutes to shut down and another minute for the system to get back to normal EDIT - OCPN left the screen, but was still active in perfmon for a minute before it went away - /EDIT. Fired OCPN back up and displaying the exact same charts shows only 1/4gb used.
Only other ap running is Firefox. Lots of tabs. About a gb used.

Total processes other than OCPN and FF was less than a gb, but perfmon showed memory was 100% allocated.

Screen shot shows the zoom level and about how many charts were showing on the screen at the time it crashed. I was North of this, but I really don't think the exact charts really matters.

But, also note that not all the charts are ingested and quilt. If I click on the empty portions, that chart will ingest and quilt. If I then click on another missing one, it works fine, but the first one goes away.

FYI: I actually noticed this when looking at the NY charts earlier. Now I have duplicated it.

EDIT2 - Just went through another iteration. Exited when OCPN got over 1gb. Went back in. Only green outlines. No charts no matter how I zoomed or clicked. Turned off quilting. Chart in the center showed. Turned quilting back on, whole screen now displays fine.

PS: Win 7 64bit. Only Dutch ENCs loaded.

/EDIT2

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1125

Just ran out of edit time for the post above:

EDIT3
After ingesting all of the Dutch charts, I started OCPN fresh. Then scrolled around. It got up to 1.5gb and then started varying up and down. That's what I woud expect. But then, all of a sudden it crashed. Memory was then at 1.9gb. But unlike before, it was still showing free memory, and no system performance problems. Just blowed up.
/EDIT3

FS#598 : Zoom in error

Parallel install - no quilting

Only using with OpenGL -
One scenario is: launch OpenCpn, immediately mouse over the yellow bar to pop up chart info. Zoom using the mouse wheel. See pic
Seems to be a partial screen refresh problem as it also occurs at the ownship position (see one of the pics in my previous post where ownship was in harbour)
Using the zoom buttons clears the problem, but it does happen again in more or less similar conditions

Re Flyspray issue FS#598? I cannot access the three pics (have they been deleted ?) so I can't tell.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1125

Hi Dave , Hi Salor54

I have exactly the same problem of only a small part of the screen refreshed
It happens only with OpenGl activated
It happens both with CM93 and BSB charts
It happens only around the boat
It's not only a zoom problem but also a drag problem
It happens mainly after a click on the charts bar or the tools box
For example : put the boat in the screen , open the tools box , close it and drag . For me it happens each time after this process
see two shots attached
Regards
Jean Pierre

Re Ptizef post

I have no problem after opening/closing the toolbox.

BTW I can drag around the bit of chart that is reacting to mouse wheel zoom in my scenario above, the rest of the sceen being 'freezed'.

Yes it's the same for me . I think it's the same problem even if it
starts slightly differently

Migration to wxWidgets 2.8.12 and to MVS 2010 successful ...
Just a small problem :
after a built , if I launch opencpn in MVS 2010 (menu debug ) , I get an error message (see shot attached ) MVS is searching for a file who does'nt exist instead of effectively launching opencpn (as does MVS 2008 )
It's not very important , just boring ...
If some one has an idea of what to do ...

Now let's go to tests

Jean Pierre
Jean Pierre,

Please select opencpn in the Classview or Solution Explorer with a right mouse click and select "Select as Startup Project" (en français)

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1125

Hello,

ASUS 1001 HA, 10 inch, W XP, CM93.

There is a problem of color.

I have parallel install with 2.5 and 2.6

I run 2.5 with quilting on, and I shutdown it.

Then I run 2.6.1125 with quilting on. It display the same area that the 2.5 with quilting on.

See the two join screen copy. What is this orange color in 2.6 instead of grey color in 2.5.

This is with OpenGL on in the 2.6.

If I choice openGL off, then this problem of color do not exist.

Best regards.

This no longer occurs after zooming with the menu buttons.
Linux

Every time OpenGL is activated, mousewheel zoom or panning doesn't work at all. Once the menu zoom buttons have been pressed once, OpenCPN works normally.

Smooth zooming doesn't seem to make any difference - is it supposed to be more "ipad-like"?

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1125

Regarding the 64 bit package.
I've come to the conclusion that the problem is with my box.
The package works on Ubuntu 10.10 (virtual).
I have exactly the same problem with OpenCPN 2.6.1019, which worked OK at the time.
It has nothing to do with the upgrading to wxgtk 2.8.12 from apt.wxwidgets.org. Reverting to the 11.10 original 2.8.11, changed nothing.
Somehow it must be something changed on my computer after around 2011-10-29. All the changes to packages are available in the Synaptic history, but I can't find any obvious candidates.

per
...smooth zooming definitely works better for Raster charts. On cm93 vector,Not So Well! But Dave mentioned openGL hadn't been fully implemented for Vector types?

It is actually Too Fast on Vector charts I have and Zoom got stuck on Vectors where Rasters were also available.
Zoom is not working at ALL as I test it now.Stuck.My +,- keys have lost function as have the toolbar Magnify glasses...Darn.Things were going so well, too.
