Does one need to uninstall the previous version before installing this current version?
Sorry for the dumb question, but I am computer challenged.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release

Beta Test Team....

Well, we did it! 2.5 has launched, and is safely in orbit.

It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that we could not have produced such a robust and reliable Release without the patience, tenacity, and broad knowledge base of our Beta Test Team. You should all be proud. I know I am.

Well done. I thank you all.

Special thanks go to the PlugIn developers. I think we have proved the concept with this Release, and look forward to more PlugIn extensions as we go forward.

I could go on and on with kudos, but I'll stop here. You know who you are, and what you did. Be proud.

What's next?
I'll take a bit of a breather, and then we should start some higher level discussion regarding a roadmap for the future. Several of the team have indicated to me that they have ideas in that direction, and now is the time to make some plans. Lets all step back one pace and look a bit farther out....

By all means, let it be known that we are not done yet. There is a universe of blank bits out there, just waiting for a chance to be useful.

My heartfelt thanks to all.
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release

Hi Dave,

Thanks to you and others developers for this new version that I have installed with Git.
I have just a problem : when I launch Opencpn, and then I open the route manager, select the waypoint tab, select a waypoint and select properties (without any change), when I click on "OK", most of the times Opencpn closes. Not all the times, but most of them.

Rodz,

compiles fine from source or use one already compiled version at the Opensuse Build Service. I have one ready (opensuse 11.3: 1-Klick-Installation, opensuse 11.4: 1-Klick-Installation) Factory and Tumbleweed are also there.
Maybe there are other Builds in other repos.

Simply klick on the right link above and everything should be done...

Builds for other Distros like Fedora may or may not work.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release

Hi.
I have just installed the 2.5 Release and have a question about FullScreen mode. The "New and enhanced features" states "9. Selectable FullScreen display mode", does this mean it is possible to toggle FullScreen somewhere in the application without pressing F11? I am using a small computer based on WinXP Embedded without keyboard support for F11.
The new version is otherwise running perfectly

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release

I just encountered a problem with the screen dimmer function. I may not understand how it works. Pressing F6 does indeed make the screen dimmer and then brighter; but the Tool Bar stays grey and upon rollover goes a very dark grey and becomes unreadable. The two bars at the botton of the screen go black and stay black and are unreadable. Restarting Opencpn doesn't clear the condition so I assume there is a ini parameter, but can't seem to find it.

How can I reset???

EDIT In the .ini file Set nColor Scheme=0

wdkester....

Regarding screen dimmer function:

What operating system, please?
Also, consider the interaction between F5 (Color scheme) and F6 (dimmer).

Screenshot would also be useful
Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release

Many, many thanks for making my cruising life even more enjoyable. I can only make a wild guess how much time and creative energy the team has put in this magnificent program.

You are kicking several commercial asses (pardon my french).
Cheers!

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release

Dave..

I had constructed a lot of extra .xpm icons for the Mark Properties box but since the new v. 2.5 OCPN version they are all gone. I have re-entered them in both 'icons' as well as 'User icons' sub-directories together with the standard icons but they do not show up?

What could be the problem?

Tore
